1. Get beaters to same position and angle 2. Set ideal spring tension for right pedal 3. Set same tension for left pedal 4. Decrease by 1/2 turns on left and test until you get 4-8 swings from both beaters that are similar. Hope this video helps you get an easier to play double bass pedal from having more even pedal settings.

You're welcome, but this video ain't complete too. Just to complete it, even if I'm using full tension, I don't think beginners should use full max tension from the beginning. Do something like progressively tightening your springs every month, until you get to the ideal tension you need for your playing after 6months. And also I have a dw5000 pedal. My spring is going to be different from yours. For example a pearl demon drive or tama iron cobra has a stiffer spring so max tension on them is much heavier than max tension on my dw5000. But generally if you have a more budget line pedal, they have lighter springs so max tension is going to be slightly looser than my dw5000. Hope that helps even more!

ACD Unlimited is a small company that makes many upgrades for many different pedals, driveshafts are one. Those DW machine drives aren't nearly as smooth as a Trick, Czarcie Kopyto, ACD Unlimited Darwins, or even Pearl Demon drives for example. All of those have better balk bearing driveshafts that don't need as much maintenance.

Honor your skills Tommy. Cymbals, even cracked, can be bashed forever, and won't affect your chops improvements and won't increase your tightness and speed. Yet Quality NEW pedals could .... Cymbals can be bought for good prices if you buy used off the classified. And real cymbals, the ones that don't crack, never age. Buy a bottle of cymbal cleaner, and your new USED $40 real cymbal, will become like a brand new one, with all of its original brilliance. Then use your money for the real game changer, NEW quality pedals.

I have a DW 5000 double pedal as well. Spring tension maxed out like yours. Your right pedal swings for days! Mine is like it’s stuck in sand. I checked the bearings and found the outer bearing (7/8”) barely spun while the smaller, inner bearing (3/4”) spins freely. Cleaned the bearings, not much difference. Bought new bearings and will replace today but spinning them by hand, they don’t feel much different. Would love to know your process. Thanks dude!

Funny to see that kind of advices. My left beater is at a higher angle than the right one and the left spring is looser because my left foot is simply not the same as my right foot. It does not have the same sensitivity and same precision than my right foot. Reason why my left pedal settings are totally different than the right pedal settings, if that makes sense!

Doesn't work at tempos beyond 200bpm. You have to work your muscles extra hard to push the beaters faster with so little spring tension. But if you're never ever going to play close to those tempos, then certainly lower tension helps you save energy!

Just showing my settings at the end, it's only 1 turn looser so that it gets 5 equal swings, yet doesn't make the left pedal too stiff for me to play. If it's too loose, then the beater swing will be too slow compared to the right , however being easier for left foot to apply force. This is just showing people you can't get a balanced swing unless you the best equipment. But I should have been clearer in the video 😉 well gotta make another one now
@t.jakstadt2690

@@ArtOfDrummingHQ yeah true that. I bought the trick drive shaft thanks to your video 😎 and I am curious how it will improve my tempo of gaining muscle memory.
