Thanks for this video and I think a will help a lot of people with this issue not knowing, the hub could also cause impropper balancing. The only note I would like to make, in the end you try to keep the prop from moving, but just let go. When proper balanced, it wouldn't move in whatever position the prop is in. In the end, the prop is only positioned horizontal and vertical. Would be nice to also see it turned 45 degrees. If correct balanced, it will not move in whatever position the prop is in.

Thank You Victor! Yes, once the Prop Blades and Hub are balanced Properly the Prop will remain stationary no matter position it is in.

Ingenious, great tutorial! Learned a lot from this. One thing I learned from watching another video is when I am getting right to the very end of balancing a prop and I think it is balanced, I will just gently tap the table on both sides of the prop balancer. If the shaft on the balancer is being held still by static or some other force, this will normally break that bond and show if the prop needs just a little more fine tuning :) Well done, please keep them coming, learning lots! Cheers, Scott

Thanks for the comment, I don't know how I missed it. The tip regarding releasing the static by tapping the table is a good tip. I'll try that on my next prop balancing session. Static is my worst enemy when balancing props. Where I live the humidity is generally around 30%-35% so static build up quickly. Happy Flying!

A problem I found is the spindle of the balancer needs to be absolutely straight and round but some aren't. Make sure the ends don't have the slightest burr where they have been cut, then roll the bare spindle on a sheet of glass that has been set dead level. Gently set it rolling and see how smoothly it rolls and how smoothly it comes to rest. If it rolls unevenly or rocks to and fro as it comes to rest, it's either bent or out of round, if not both. I paid more for a new decent spindle than for the whole balancer. Hope that helps.

Absolutely! Without a straight spindle you'll never get a prop completely balanced. What Prop Balancer did you buy that had this issue?

@@GroundControlRCCan't see a maker's name. It was on Amazon, £15.89. Looks and operates like the DuBro Tru-spin. I got a refund but didn't have to return it. I was able to get a DuBro replacement 3mm spindle but it was £18.48, which hurt a bit but at least it now works as it should. Thanks for your interest.

@@georgecopeman7668 The Dubro Tru-Spin is what I have and it works great. I'm glad you have one now that will work.

I have found this Dubro Prop Balancer to work very well and is not very expensive. I balance all of my props with it before putting the prop on my plane or quad and never have any issues with vibration from an out of balance prop. Thanks for your comment and Happy Flying!

Well done mate. Great video. Most people don't think that the hub needs balancing, they just balance the blades. Just wondering if you could let me know what prop balancer that is you're using? It seems nice and sensitive. Cheers. ...RCPP

The Prop Balancer is the Du-Bro 499 Tru-Spin Prop Balancer. It's a great balancer and I've never had any vibration or jello in the FPV Camera after balancing a prop with this balancer. Thanks for the comment and Happy Flying!

Just happened to watch your video on prop balance. How can you tell if it is the blades out of balance or the hub? Thanks.
@GroundControlRC
@GroundControlRC 3 жыл бұрын
That is a very good question. The first thing I do is balance the blades, then I balance the Hubs. I check the balance of the Hubs by positioning the Blades completely Vertical. If the Prop rotates to the Left, then the Right Side of the Hub is light, and vise versa. I balance the Hub by putting some Hot Glue on the Light Side of the Hub and then Rinse and Repeat until the Hub is Balanced. Then I check the Blades again by putting then in a completely Horizontal Position and Re-Balance if necessary. See you in the Air!

Hi Allen! No Doubt! This is the 1st batch of props I've received where they were all off. I obviously got all of them from the same mold. See you in the Air!

It's not balanced because you don't have it centered on the balance shaft correctly. That centering spindle isn't on there for counterweight. The prop should be centered, and between the two support points. There's also no difference between blade and hub balance, because you cannot balance one without balancing the whole thing. Maybe start with the instructions.

Actually that's the way you balance the props on this spindle. There's a stop near one of the ends which is fixed. There is certainly a difference between balancing the blades and balancing the hubs. You have to do both but this video is related to the prop hubs as the title states. Perhaps you should post your method on your channel so others can learn from your expertise and knowledge. I'm surprised you stated I should read the instructions as it's very obvious you didn't check to see how to use this Balancer ;-) Here's a video on how to use this Balancer sponsored by the makers of this Balancer so you can educate yourself. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/opp2dcylp7imYqs.html As you'll see, I did read the instructions ;-)
