I think angled is better than straight. I have broken many strait plugs because of the bending torque placed on them if dropped or if you accidentally sit on the player/phone. Angled keeps the cord tight to the jack. I just ordered one of these Pentaconn to 2.5mm $30 Canadian.

If I use a 4.4mm adapter from a 3.5mm is there any benefit to the sound? In other words by using the balanced input is there an improvement?
@PortaFi
@PortaFi 4 жыл бұрын
it depends on the device, usually balanced out gives more power that is beneficial for many headphones. but for some devices, there could be even bigger improvement in sound but please keep in mind, that if you're using a device with a balanced socket, you can't use a non-balanced cable with it (even with an adapter), as it can damage the source

Is there an adapter from 2.5 balanced male to 3.5 single-end female? Basically I want to use the higher power output from the balanced port to run HiFiman Sundara properly on my BTR5.

the 2.5 mm female balanced converter to 4.4mm male balanced, does it safe to use? will it harmful/damaging for dap nor iems? i check out pentaconn converter and they are super expensive, what a difference? im planning to buy it for balanced from sony zx300 thanks in advance
@PortaFi

sure, this adapter is safe to use, as they keep ground lines separated. difference is probably in brand's name only, DD HiFi converters are really nice, so personally I don't see much sense in paying more
@Ratseeker
@Ratseeker 4 жыл бұрын
@@PortaFi Would any added resistance/impedence from these converters influence the sound out of sensitive iems? I'm wondering if the pricier ones gaurentee less resistance. And why these companies don't test for it.

Can I use this adapter on an xlr 2 end male cable with 3.5mm jack? And do I still get the benefits of balanced this way? An actual xlr to 4.4mm cable is way to expensive! I'm just paying over 100 bucks just for a simple cable!

Help. I have a FiiO X5 Gen 3. Ill use for car audio... (Sony GS9 as Head Unit) for now... I think to use the Line Output 3.5mm. My question is: A balanced cable to head unit in the car is better option than Line Output???? The Fiio have 3 outputs.. 1. Headphones....not good in this case. 2. Balanced output as 2.5mm. (that's my option) and 3. Line Output 3.5mm. What do you think? (im not SPL user, im more SQ user in car audio... Focal Utopia)
@PortaFi
@PortaFi 3 жыл бұрын
hello, I'm not familiar with car audio, but most probably, aux in in your car stereo isn't balanced, so you can't use a balanced out of X5-3 (it can be used only with load that doesn't short-circuit ground lines), so line out its the only choice
