Fair comment. It is really great they found something they both really "loved" in the end [the dining room couple]. AND the other couple struck gold, too. Happy ending etc... But generally, these days, very few are prepared to take on a project, despite the real financial gains to be had ... But even as I speak: The Hay-making Summer is now over/Winter's here, now... Harder to realize gains now that the property boom has turned to bust.

Yes, but the house doesn't fit their needs. Remember, they wanted a dining room. Yes, it's an eat-in kitchen, but look at where the table is. It's smushed in the corner because of the cabinets around it and the sellers wanted to give the illusion of space. The chairs are literally up against the wall. When they're using it, they can't access the counter or cabinets and it looks like it's a squeeze.

Not for what is termed a cottage industry (literally can be done in a cottage/residential area without disturbing neighbors). Larger scale yes you need to be in a property that is sold as 'retail/manufacturing/whatever'. They don't zone areas unless it's like a business park. As in most older countries, small stores intermingle with residential areas - which is great for the 'local shop' that people can walk easily to from their homes.

"Apres tu"? Oh Kirstie, time to brush up your French grammar.

I actually winced when she said that. Now you know why the British are ranked bottom in Europe when it comes to learning foreign languages. I mean, it was hardly a difficult phrase. It was even a Eurovision song title once!

the 'tu' is rather informal but then she is the Honourable Kirstie ...

I guess you didn't hear Kirstie say as they were leaving the room "Do you mind the 'tu'?", to which Tony laughed and replied "no, no").

@@karent-s7639 I missed that part where she said "apres tu". (I scrolled back to find it but was unsuccessful.) But if that's what she said, then based on these comments, it seems to me that when she said "Do you mind the 'tu'," she meant "do you mind my tutoyering you instead of vousvoyezing", and Tony laughingly said "no". Whereas (according to my high school French) I think the faux pas folks are pointing out here is that she should have said "apres *toi* ". Or apres vous, whatever.

I would not bank on this woman's business acumen... She is wound a tad too tight and cannot see the forest for the trees....
