Hi, as a complete new player to bg3 or any type of rpg/dnd BG3 is a lot of information to deal with and you do a great job in explaining the basics of the game while its not an hour long bc then it would get boring real soon. Are there not incremental increases each single point for some stats? I notice with constitution, your max hp goes up each level at a certain point, not just on even levels. Anything else like that?

Lets say I have proficiency in Short Bows and Long Bows as an elf, does that stack over with going Ranger or?…

Im confused with the Proficiency Skill. Ex. I have +3 to Survival Checks, Level 2 Rogue (+2 Proficiency Bonus), Wisdom 13, but when I look at my logs after a Survival Check (passed by a dirt mound) it doesnt add +3 survival check. Its just say 4(1d20) + 2(Proficiency Bonus) + 1(wisdom). Are Proficiency Skills added only on combat?

I just hit level 4 and I'm so confused. Why am I not allowed to pick perception? I'm a damn rogue. Why are over half my options grayed out? The game wants me to choose intimidation and athletics and I'm not sure why they pre-chose that but u guess I'm stuck with it? Can you change these later?

Please, someone that understands, help me understand: Let’s say I have a character with 18 Charisma at character level 7 If I encounter a skill check (intimidation) and have proficiency and expertise in intimidation (total +10) The skill check requires 25 to pass and I roll 8 on 1d20. Would it be calculated this way: 8+10(proficiency in that SKILL) + 10(expertise in that SKILL) + 3(bonus due to character level at 7 and charisma stat at 18) = total roll of 31 = success?? OR: 8+3(proficiency bonus cap due to character level) +3(expertise) +3 (bonus due to character level 7 and charisma at 18) = 17 = failed attempt Or are both examples wrong? If proficiency bonus is tied to character level (+3 for character level 7), why would I ever want more than 6 (without expertise) in any skill, since it caps at +6 at level 17 until 20? +6 in any skill at character level 7 would be a waste of 3 skill points, due to the limit of proficiency bonus being +3 from character levels 5-8?? HEEEEEEEEELP

Geeze. So much misinformation. YOu said STR plays into damage with all melee weapons. WRONG!!!! Ability used for melee weapon damage depends on the class. Rogues use DEX for melee damage and ranged damage. A pact of the blade warlock used CHA for melee damage.
