Right he seemed like he genuinely thought it was out. It very well COULD have impacted the inning. Baseball is not like playing Strat-o-matic baseball where the dice are going to roll the same way regardless of the situation. IF they had held Mookie at 3rd, then the rest of the inning would have been different. Because the pitcher would have pitched differently. Anyone who thinks that the rest of the inning plays out the same (such s when someone is called out stealing second when he was safe, and then the next batters gets a base hit and then they whine that a run would have scored) simply doesn't understand baseball. Or sports in general.

Like how the AL called the 62 HR season of Judge a record when it literally wasn't a home run record unless you tacked on a bunch of extra stipulations. Jomboy doesn't show that later in the game that ball boy was replaced by another. Hey I was at that game. To my understanding the guy works with the grounds crew and they rotate them out. Some marlins guy dressed in a suit came by an talked to him about half an inning later, and then they replaced him. The crowd jeered at him a bit, but not much. Shit happens but his expression the hole time I was looking over there was funny to me. Its a good thing that only a few thousand people attend Marlins games. Most away fans. I kid I kid😁😄

What was the first base ump signaling? The ball boy had plenty of time to do a quick look at the ump for the fair/foul indication, but his back was turned to the ump - and the play - the entire time! When a ball is hit that close to the line, a ball boy absolutely needs to rely on the communication from the umpire. Their hand signals are very clear and easy to see!
