Hello Curious. I watched this video yesterday and enjoyed the serenity of it, and your question as to how we feel about the offerings has been on my mind since .... I rewatched your first video of this site, as well. I have tied many wee ribbons on various trees over the years, but I find I no longer feel compelled to do that, apart from a cotton ribbon each year on the Lady Hawthorn by the river, in remembrance of my late husband. I guess I have to say that the act of honouring through offerings is something our own spirit or soul needs. There is such a long history of this kind of verneration and celebration that it seems instinctual. The use of plastic is harmful, no doubt about it, yet the need for spiritual expression by those who make the offerings, is an activity that enriches souls and connects us with Nature. I now use dried herbal offerings such as gorse flowers, blue cornflower petals, rose petals, colourful dried leaves, and dried fragrant wild plants. There is something lovely about casting the offering to the wind, into the river, or beneath a beloved tree. I create the blends with the intent to bring connection and Peace. Sorry to ramble on. Blessings for the New Year to you and your family 'Take care. 🐈‍⬛🌿

Fabulous showing of your favorite stone circle. I am not a fan of all the ribbons and items hung on the tree - looks messy and I believe sacred sites should be kept pristine condition with great respect. But I understand they were probably left with the best of intentions. Well done, my friend 👍. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀.

Hello Jim , thanks for watching and commenting. You are always welcome here. Yes , I completely agree with you that sacred sites should be kept pristine , the problem here is that the thorn tree , which is the main focus of the offerings , has grown inside the circle . This makes it associated with the Faeries , and attracts those who seek to try and communicate with them. And being a Faerie thorn , there is not one person will dare to cut it down for fear of the Faeries wrath . Which is usually severe if you are to believe the folklore. I have put the house move on hold for now , thanks for remembering. Too much else going on... Take care Jim and stay warm .Wade was saying Alberta was -45C . You Canadians are tough...💪👍🍀

First off, let me congratulate you CC on reaching 500+ subscribers - well done..!🎆. I too love this very special place. Walking up through the gorse and hawthorn path is enchanting. I have mixed thoughts on the offerings made. I personally would only leave natural gifts / offerings. Regarding the clootie tree, I feel the ribbons etc Need to decompose in order to fulfil their meanings when they return to the earth - just as we all do. So, when something is plastic for example, the time that will take to decompose is more than a lifetime. When an item is made or collected naturally, I think it shows great respect and will fulfil it's purpose easier. I think people Do mean well - they just don't think it through. As for the rest of your film, I thoroughly enjoyed the calm time it gave me. Your drone shots along with the music you pick always gives me goosies and I always watch twice before commenting. Good job and thanks for returning to this lovely location. 👍I highly recommend people visit.

Cracking video CC! Lovely drone footage at the start. Ballynoe is like Swinside in Cumbria and very interesting information regarding the same latitude. I have noticed some of the Aberdeenshire Recumbent Stone Circles have a possible shelf feature. Thank You, Martin.

So lucky to have the circle to yourself for 3 hours...the drone shots really highlight the splendour of the site. Not a big fan of offerings left at these places, picking a few daisies to make a chain to hang from the thorn tree would be a prettier and more appropriate thing to leave in memory of someone. I regret not bringing home the Odin plaque someone had left at Glenmakeeran court tomb 😀it looked class! Great video and happy new year!

Hi David , happy new year to you also my friend. Aye , I was pretty lucky right enough , another car full of people pulled up just as I got back to the van..😀 I remember that Odin plaque ....I wonder is it still there . Whether you believe in the paranormal or not , I wouldn`t recommend taking something like that home with you though . Thanks for watching and commenting . 👍🍀

That sunken track way is a real gem . Plastic is an unusual compound , it is actually 100 percent organic . Just a very complex arrangement of organic compounds , carbons , hydrogens , oxygens .. its xommon to assume they are toxic to the environment but they are actually quite natural . The oval mound looks very boat like in shape Have you ever heard of queen T and the funeral games ? This was a very interesting video thanks for taking us along . The ribbons represent the people of today remembering their connection with the past .

Hello Owen , Your comment regarding plastic is very misleading . My respect for , and connection to, the natural world is on a deep spiritual level . To say that plastic waste does not harm the environment is at best misinformed and at worst irresponsible. It is common for the casual observer to assume that because plastic is derived from petroleum and petroleum is derived from crude oil, which is an organic compound, that therefore plastic is biodegradable . The organic compound in petroleum ( Lipids ) are transformed into a material unrecognized by the organisms that normally break matter down. Most plastics are derived from Propylene, when heated in with a catalyst , individual Monomers of Propylene link together forming an extremely strong carbon bonds with each other creating Polypropylene. Nature does not make things like that, so the organisms have never seen that before , and lack the ability to break something like that down as they don`t have the metabolic pathways to do it. So called "Organic Polymers " are not naturally organic. " Organic " in this sense is simply a term used in chemical science to describe a compound containing carbon atoms. To further illustrate , I include this paragraph taken from an article in The Smithsonian Science Education Centre website...... As you can see, the organic polymers we call “plastics” are a diverse chemical family. Plastics are pretty easy to produce, lightweight, and have a variety of properties that have made modern life much easier and sanitary. Plastics are also quite durable, and that is the good and bad thing about them. For use as containers or in construction, we want materials to be durable. However, because we use so much plastic and often throw it away, a lot of plastic waste gets into the environment and stays there for a long time. Since the 1950s, tons of plastic has been discarded into the environment and that plastic is likely to persist for many centuries. Scientists have found evidence of plastic harming wildlife, particularly sea birds and other marine life. The scientific evidence that plastic have already damaged our environment down to a nano level is undeniable Owen . It`s already in the human food chain from fish and other sea food . I almost deleted your comment , but I thought I would be better speaking up for The Mother as She can`t use the internet . Apart from that ...No , never heard of queenT and the funeral games....what is it?

I tied a cotton ribbon on one of the roots of one of the massive beeches growing from the bank at Avebury. There were lots of other things there, both natural and unnatural. Although I knew my cotton ribbon would disintegrate fairly quickly, I did wonder about it. Are we doing something special, or are we behaving in a more modern way, and missing the point. I have also made water deposits near my home in Nashville, Tennessee, but like the cotton ribbon, I am careful not to introduce something that is basically rubbish. I don’t have an answer to the yes or no, but it is something to consider.

Hello Jim , Nice to hear from you . I think some people are missing the point , when they leave non-bio. materials . Having said that, I understand that leaving tributes and libations is an ancient practice , and it still fulfils that human spiritual need to connect to The Otherworld . Personally I believe it works if done with sincerity and respect. With the continued rise in neo paganism ,many more folk , some more aware of the environment than others , are doing these rituals . I didn`t realise that this was happening at Avebury , that`s interesting thanks. Great comment my friend, your support is much appreciated...🍀
