My brother was also in the Colts Band, and my dad was on the Field Crew. They got to wear Stetson hats and leather jackets with fringe.

People wearing white shirts and ties to a football game. How things have changed.

My father was in the Colts band during the 60's. They awarded him diamond cufflinks in the colts logo and I still have them

So it wasn’t ‘50s.

Do you have any videos or even pictures of them one maned Baltimore police cars that looked like tiny pick up trucks? I remember them so vividly but no one believes me 😩

I'm reading the book: The League by David Harris 1986. Great detail, Carroll Rosenbloom and Robert Irsay. The reason Baltimore lost the Colts was because it wouldn't build a new stadium for 2 owners. Look at this clip, playing on dirt.

You obviously don’t follow football? Those are duel purpose fields! 49ers won 5 SBs playing on a identical field. Along with half the other teams well into the 2000s! Irsay was just a shitty owner. Like his coke head son!

The early NFL played in baseball stadiums: Yankee Stadium, Ebbets Field, the Polo Grounds, Kezar Stadium, etc.

@@carrite Oh absolutely. I found great pictures from Kezar in SF Gate magazine online. Earl Morall and YA Tittle at QB for 49ers. Great stuff.

@@carrite Kezar was not a baseball stadium. It was just a poorly maintained football and track & field stadium.

In 1971, the Colts had the 2nd Monday Night Football game ever. The problem was that the Orioles had control of Memorial Stadium, and a clause that said no football game could be played within a certain amount of time before an Orioles game, because of the damage caused by football to the infield and pitcher's mound. The Orioles took the Colts to court. The judge ruled that the Colts could play the Monday night game, but the entire field had to be moved toward the outfield wall, and away from the pitcher's mound.
