Warning... those branches you threw in are probably the best brush piles you could ever ask for except... as you can see from the very green leaves of the branches you threw in previously. Those are willows. They are a semi aquatic tree. Submerged leaves will die off but any exposed to air and sunlight will draw energy. In the right conditions, this will cause the branches to put out roots and become a clone of the parent. Given time, it will become a large tree with a deep and extensive root system. You should check the older brush piles for signs of rooting. The roots will be pinkish and look like thick hair growing from knots in the wood on the older submerged branches.

Crazy to think I started watching Bonnie & Clyde grow up in a tank for tank Tuesdays to them now in arguably one of the coolest ecosystems ever. You’ve got a life long supporter! I noticed the letter “O” still has a spot and I’d love to name a bass “Orca”. Orca whales are super aggressive apex predators and these fish in this pond are just as aggressive as one of the coolest animals ever. Thanks!

Would like to see you feed tiger the prawns. That could be pretty scientific way to tell. If he gets bigger faster than the prawns clearly are worth the effort.

Name suggestiuion R = Rupret. I have been a fan since the blue heron wrecked yr backyard pond. I held off naming a fish because I don't personally fish .. but I get such a buzz from seeing you catch them and detailing all the data, I thought I would try it out. Love from Australia xx

BamaBass I'm concerned that the cuttings you're sinking in the 5 acre pond might be taking root in the clay bottom. If so, they could compromise your pond and lead to LEAKS. 😳. Might want to revisit some in the shallows from last year and check on that.... Love the series! 💕

yep i thought the same when he said that those trunks that he sink are still alive and well

I was going to say the same! The cuttings that have stayed alive for months on end have probably grown at least some roots. They look like willows to me - I think those are pretty aggressive at spreading roots. I hope not though!
