I remember Andrea True from the late 70s. I have to say, it was pretty racy to listen to her, given her day job, which we heard about. But teen years weren't as bubble wrapped then as now.

True. The original by Andrea True was one of 1970s best disco tracks. I enjoy Banarama version, but the original is untouchable.

“Pop Life” also contained two Stock Aitken Waterman productions, with “Ain’t No Cure” and “Heartless”. So the association never truly ended. By the time work begun on “Please Yourself”, Matt Aitken had left PWL. So the writing, arranging and production on that was all done by Mike Stock, with Sara writing the girls’ share of the lyrics.

@@wishkid79 as far as I know, these two tracks were included in the pop life album in demand by their record company, London records and they came from a series of other recordings with SAW for their new album, which were all rejected by Bananarama, because they didn't like them. I have heard some of these, and I can not blame them, they were no good at all. And at that time, Bananarama and most notably Sara were writing, or co writing all their new stuff, but this has been going on since their very first album, it was nothing new

@@triadafillos1 I guess it all depends on who you listen to, everyone recounts things from different perspectives. If Sara and Keren didn’t want a track(s) on an album, come hell or high water, no one was going to tell them otherwise. Such as their (IMO) rather spectacular Bowie cover of “Changes” they recorded, but refused to include on “Please Yourself”, because they were unhappy with the final mix. It was only when SAW recorded “Ain’t No Cure” with their new group, Delage, did Sara object because she wanted it on “Pop Life”. So the Delage recording was shelved (until it was released on an Australian PWL licensed compilation circa, 2001/02) and Bananarama used it themselves. As for the new SAW tracks they recorded in 1989, I guess it’s a matter of opinion as to their merit. They are only rough board mixes, after all. Personally, I think the first run mix of “I Don’t Care” was terrific! It could have very comfortably sat proudly on “Please Yourself”, but alas. I think the girls’ missed out by not releasing a new album with SAW in 1989. SAW were at their pinnacle, testament not only by their staggering succession of hits, but the quality of their output. Donna Summer and Kylie being the most glowing examples of this. However, the world tour and indeed SAW’s phenomenal success at this point, we’re primary reasons for the decision to change direction and team up with “Youth”.

@@wishkid79 personally, I feel grateful that they chose to team up with youth and other new producers, because we got pop life, for me one or maybe the best Bananarama record, and I still find WOW one of their weakest albums, of course not commercially, but in terms of creativity. And that was also a clever choice of the group back then, because the whole SAW era had already become outdated and on the verge of becoming the laughing stock of the British music industry(just to mention singles like "I 'd rather jack" from the Reynold girls and many others). With their decision to team up with new, fresh producing teams they avoided becoming a synonym of the SAW and the eighties era, and they showed once more, that they are a group, which likes to be commercial, but also up to date and daring to change their sound. I think, only because of this SAW connection, people had related by then Bananarama with this team production, pop life did not manage to become a smash hit and the singles had a modest success. And it seems that their record company push them towards to team up with SAW again for their last London records album, which was even less successful than pop life, and it did not have any musical merit at all.
