for me, the most beautiful military parade uniforms are those of the military school of Saint Cyr in France and those of the French Republican Guard .Regarding the demonstration the most impressive are the Americans with their silent drill platoon

The march is Regiment Sambre et Meuse. Superb! You can also hear the US Military Academy Band at West Point play this march on parade by searching KZfaq on the terms "Regiment Sambre et Meuse March by the West Point Band" They do a great job with it too. The USA owes a great deal of debt to the French - had they not provided support to the USA during the American Revolution it may well have failed. Good posting, Feodor

I agree on Sambre et Meuse, and thanks for noticing it but about your independence, I think you reverse things... no disrespect to valiant americans during their independence war, but in fact, the war became global when France entered in, involving Dutch and Spanish by her own diplomacy. Then almost all the guns, the powder, the ships, the money of the insurgents were French, even the uniforms of the regular US troops were french. And on the true decisive battle on the american continent (Yorktown 1781), French soldiers are more numerous than Americans. it's even twice more if we count the french navy. The strategy of Yorktown is also French as it was Rochambeau, who refused the Washington plan to attack Clinton and NYC. Even the battle of Saratoga is at best a draw, but it convinced France that there was something to do if Americans were able to at least sometimes make a draw with british professional troops ... French land troops were considered as better than the English and for once, due to a great restructuration, the little french fleet was able to match part of the british RN. France managed to involve Spain and Dutch because they had important and fairly good navies too, that would mean that british will have to share their fleet all around earth to make safe their sea circulation safe. It's not a hasard if French close the cheasepeake bay, it was part of the plan of Rochambeau. Lord Cornwallis accepted to be encircled and assieged at Yorktown because he was convinced that the Royal Navy would keep him alive and that then the french-american alliance would give up. Galant, Rochambeau has shown Washington to the British second in command at Yorktown when they surrendered. The british felt it like an humiliation, they tried to avoid it, with giving the commander sword to the French like if Americans were for nothing, but perfidiously and amusingly, Rochambeau refused it... And the worse was not yet arrived for the british general but Washington refused it to and asked to give it to his commander in second ;) Cornwallis lied about a certain dysentry to not have to give his surrender to the French-american Allies.... BTW, thanks for the Help in WWI and thanks for having liberated us (alongside with British and many other allies, in which few french) in WWII. :)

The hero that do reference is called "José Francisco de San Martín". He was born in the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata, present territory of Argentina. He was militarily on Spain. On his return to South America the began the long and most important military campaign of struggle for freedom and independence of the peoples of the Americas. He is who made possible the freedom of Argentina, Chile and Peru. The only general who fought only against foreign armies and never participated in the internal struggles of the new brothers in South America countries. Father of the homeland of America of South, and especially in Argentina is considered. Thank you. Best regards. Gracias. Saludos.

First of all, thanks for your effort to translate in french but actually, First march = "première marche" ... premier mars is 1st OF march... Most war and military words (in english) have french origines : Marche (March), Infanterie(infantry), cavalerie, artillerie, arme, armée (army), division, corps d'armée, brigade, groupe d'armées, escadron (squadron), peloton (platoon), Soldat (soldier), Sergent, Lieutenant, Capitaine, Colonel, Général, Maréchal (Marshall), Canon etc...

@@johnerrol3813 Also, they were more than happy when the french white flag came into war with british in 1778-1783 period... Especially since 1776, they were receiving french guns, money, uniforms, ships, supplies and despite a true superiority in number to the british, they didn't arrive to win with the french guns. They needed french navy and french regiments to win the decisive battle of Yorktown.
