BAND-MAID released their new song called "Bestie" in collaboration with Michael Einziger from Incubus.
The lyrics are entirely in English so I thought that it would be the best for all of us to listen to the song and read the lyrics at the same time.
I hope that ‪@BANDMAID‬ will post this kind of video in the future when they don't releave a Music Video.

@@dragonmac1234 It's worth noting that neither of those lyrics were written by the band - "The Dragon Cries" lyrics by Tom Kenney and "Don't Let Me Down" lyrics by Akihito Tokunaga. These are the first Kobato Miku lyrics written entirely in English!

I read the words to this song and I can't help but think it's a celebration of their friendship over the last 10 years. How through all the ups and downs, they've never lost that connection with each other and even as they move forward, it will just get stronger. They really are "Bestie's" and will always be there to pick each other up if one of them falls. Merci Orenje! Tu est un homme bon. Santé!

Saiki does a great job with the lyrics, her English is getting clearer and she seems to be able to hold the key or tone of the words better than ever. Even Miku's English lyrics are getting better, as far as writing them. I don't think I am ready for an all English BAND-MAID album, there is this great charm to them being true to their native tongue. Bestie sounds like it could be a note from any one of the 5 members to any one of the other members. These ladies have shown us that they are as much like sisters as they are friends. They bring the best out of each other and they certainly bring the best out of us. Thank you Mike Einziger, thank you for seeing the "Beautiful Thing" that is BAND-MAID as we all see and hear it. Thank you for being so kind and understanding. This is certainly going to stay in the minds of fans for a long time. To Miku, Saiki, Akane, Kanami and Misa thank you for just being you. We LOVE YOU all, but I think it's fair to say that you know that.

Oyajimusic - Nice thoughts + i hear where you are coming from about that homeland charm but it's not what the group's energy directs, international popularity achieves worldwide success which caters to the majority of the masses, + in doing so with their incorporated motto of "Band Maid Domination" the band clearly visions the unchartered mainstream, + that drive is what keeps them motivated as far as longevity goes without that quest i couldn't see them lasting as long as they have, look no further than all the dismantled talented acts that have been confined within their geographic boundaries they expire between 2 to 5 years no matter how skilled + well known they are as top-notched acts, sooner or later you have to leave that comfort zone + stretch out in the wild blue yonder in order to be recognized everywhere + "Band Maid" are well aware of that compromised mindset.

Japanese -- with its general lack of heavy consonant clusters -- lends itself well to singing, and Saiki raps well in Japanese. Personally, I don't find language a barrier in singing. Lots of classical music is sung in German or Italian -- or Latin. The voice is really another musical instrument. Saiki plays the vocal cords just as Kanami plays the guitar strings. Often enough people cannot understand the English lyrics of songs anyway -- how many people hear Jimi Hendrix's "kiss the sky" as "kiss this guy"? Mistaken lyrics are commonplace. Watch Saiki sing Puzzle acoustic and you will have no doubt about the emotions she is conveying -- and she does that without using English most of the time. Songs are not telegrams.

@@himbo754 I feel the same way. I do not understand Japanese, but I have no trouble understanding what Band Maid is telling us through their music. And I agree, Saiki's magical voice is but another finely tuned instrument.

@@himbo754 I thought I had made it clear that I had no issues with the language. I honestly do not believe I would be following 75+ bands and OWN nearly 1100 songs (in total) from those bands if language was a barrier to me. What I stated was that I was NOT ready for BAND-MAID to record an all English language album. I think it would take away a lot of their charm. I love listening to songs in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Malaysian , etc, etc.. If I gave off an air that that I did not support these bands in their native tongue my post should be re-read, because clearly that was not my intent. And if I took your response wrong I am greatly sorry.

Thanks for mentioning that--I would love to see that as well! Love the intro riff, verses and the strong choruses all in English by The Pigeon, Saiki's and her vocals. Add in Akane's tasteful rockin' drums, as well as Kanami's badass solo. Very cool PO!

Thanks for the lyrics, I was having trouble when I first listened. It's a good song, mid-tempo and for my ears, MISA is the standout, followed by Akane, then Saiki. Nice solo from Kanami and Miku adds some really nice harmonizes and vocal effects throughout.

Wow! One of the best things about this song is Miku's heartfelt lyrics, and in a second language no less. Sorry, but in my opinion this is the second Band-Maid collaboration with a famous(?) artist/producer that falls short of expectations. In the end, Band-Maid is their own best influence.

I think the lyrics and AKANE drums stand out as do the way Saiki puts over the song. It will be interesting to see how much the song lasts in the legend that is Band Maid. If we forget about collaborations it is a nice Band Maid song that will grow on you. It isn't up there with the very best of Band Maid but the thing is. Will it be a concert go to? But it is a grower that actually gets better with every play.

I am a Band Maid fan. Maybe 6 years now. I love all of their albums. And so I like some songs better than others. This song is a straight up Incubus song musically and sounds great, but the lyrics are just misplaced. I don't know what to say. Miku has written some great lyrics on Band Maid songs, but not this time. These lyrics might work better in a heartfelt ballad.

Much better than the poor snatch I heard earlier on a reaction. Sadly with English lyrics saiki struggles and she knows it. She needs specific English diction coaching. Her delivery in Japanese is so commanding and confident. Maybe with live performance she'll crack it. Her new song from yokohama suffers because she has the same problem with the chorus. Fans are going to be fine and non English speakers (there are rather a lot of them out there) but I don't think it's going to get usa radio play.

I will agree that I love Saiki singing in Japanese but I also love the reason she is singing in English is for the ‘Masters and Princesses” they love. And, just as hard as Japanese is for us I’m sure English is hard for them. Love the song.

Pretty much the same for me. I don't think I've heard them release a legitimately bad song but some just grab you (most do with this band tbf) and some are relatively meh. Again, it's a perfectly good song but not one going on my rotation for sure. Contrary to some other users, repeated listens haven't made it grow on me. If anything it's the opposite.
