Team Kanami no wait Team Akane no I mean Team Miku or was it Team Misa no no it’s Team Saiki or is it oh I don’t know. Now you’ve MAID me all confused.

Well, I'm more Team Band-Maid. MISA plays a Black Cloud, Black Smoker that is in Vintaged White. MISA told them she wanted a white bass that was aged so it looked like it had spent 20 years being played in a smoky old bar. Black Cloud is a custom luthier in Japan that has been making all of MISA's basses since I think late 2016 early 2017. They also made the SG style she used in Freedom, however she has had it renecked since it suffers from very bad neck dive, requiring her to try various widths of straps. Even after having the neck replaced, it still neck dives, so she uses it mostly as a studio instrument. You can buy one for yourself if you want as it's model name from Black Cloud is the MISA. Black Cloud made it specifically for her as a surprise. And her regular Black Smokers are based on a Fender Jazz Bass with custom wound pickups and a thinner neck profile to MISA's specifications as she plays a full 34 inch scale. Miku is playing her Signature Zemaitis "Flappy Pigeon", that is supposedly modified with custom wound pickups and a treble bleed modification. Kanami is playing a PRS 35th anniversary Custom 24 in Angry Larry Red, with a piezo bridge , treble bleed modification, custom wound pickups, coil splitting and a locking tremolo. The Custom 24 comes with either coil splitting or coil tapping normally however since the pickups were supposedly custom wound by her tech Dai-san they are coil splitting. (Coil tapping and Coil splitting are 2 different things, they are NOT the same. Coil Tapping, both coils have a "TAP" at the same number of winds soldered in to cut the section beyond the tap out of the circuit. You can TAP a single coil or a humbucker, in the humbucker though you don't lose the noise cancelation like you do with coil splitting, which cuts the second coil completely out of the circuit.) Akane is playing her Start Bubinga kit with either her Ludwig, or Gretsch Snare, and Zildjian cymbals.

this is the perfect example of why to listen to the regular/vanilla version before the live. you wouldnt notice the Misa's bass is by "B"lackcloud in Japan, Miku's guitar is a Zemaitis(this particular one is a Miku model called the Flappy Pigeon partially designed by Miku)

Miku has so many different guitars as they all do. But this is her signature Zemaitis Flappy Pigeon. Designed by her and made exclusively for her with only a limited run for purchase by mortals. Never been aware of a band that so completes and compliments each other. Each have a chance to shine in songs. Miku writes the lyrics and Kanami writes the music with the rest of the band adding and conferring. 'Different' was written especially for a popular Anime.

The official MV's to both of these songs are way better in my opinion! MISA plays Black Cloud basses through Aguilar amps (before January she used Orange amps) Her signature bass is her black "Black Smoker" Miku plays Zemaitis guitars through EVH 5150's. She also has a signature Zemaitis "Flappy Pigeon". Kanami plays PRS Custom 24's through Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier Akane plays Tama drums with Zildjian symbols All are sponsored. I don't have a favourite maid. Every single one of them is irreplaceable and awesome.

It is impossible to have a favorite with the Maids. It varies from song to song. As you get deeper into their catalogue, you will realise that. There's over 130 video's you can react to if you are serious. That includes interviews & mini documentaries. You have a long and beautiful road ahead of you man. Brace yourself.

There is no way I could pick a favorite individual for Band-Maid. Each one of these ladies is epic in talent and beauty. Since most of my old school heavy metal bands don't release new material anymore(or rarely)...it's very nice to have a band like this to take up the mantle.

Picking a favorite Maid is like picking a favorite Band-Maid song. It can't be done, imo. I mean, what's better: Puzzle or Moratorium, Play or Freedom, a Kauai sunrise or a Kauai sunset? My favorite song is the one I'm currently listening to. My favorite Maid is the one I'm currently watching. Even though it's futile, it's fun, I guess, for trying. Thx, Walt!

If you are going to react to Band-Maid music videos I would highly recommend 'Blooming', 'Influencer', 'Warning', 'Daydreaming', 'Non-fiction Days', 'Rinne', and 'From Now On' as they are all excellent. They have many other great ones too. Enjoying your reactions, it's always nice to see someone enjoying the awesomeness of this band.

A couple of years ago a little after I had discovered The Maids, the "favorite Maid" question was posed. I legit. spent 45 minutes trying to decide. It's really, REALLY hard! But, I'm a drummer, and Akane is unbelievably creative in her writing and playing, so... #teamdrummer. Ofcourse, I have boat-loads of respect and admiration for all of our Maids. They make it all look so easy- they are in complete control of their instruments. And the smiles. Akane is the happiest drummer in the world and dear scruffy genius Kanami smiles sweetly from her world where ever that may be. Just the best in the world.

You’re not alone brother. I ain’t got a particular favorite because all the songs they churned out are good. But since we’re on it, my current on frequent repeat is Anemone and One & Only. 😊

Instinct wants me to blurt out DRUMS and BASS! , but I think I'd rather take a bullet than try to choose a favourite out of these 5 awesome ladies. If I was standing before all of them, I just couldn't do the others a disservice by picking one over another, lol

The two main Fender basses are the Precision (commonly called a P-bass) and the Jazz (called a J-bass). They also sell a Mustang and a Jaguar and other styles. Both the P-bass and the J-bass have two "horns" but the J-basses have the waist offset (or angled) a little more. They are all four-string basses. MISA's original bass was a J-bass in a natural maple and block inlays (and a Jimi Hendrix sticker). When she switched to a five-string bass she tried several brands but now uses Black Cloud almost exclusively. She's had an all-black Jazz-style Black Cloud for a long time, you can see it in many videos; their latest instrumental *"from now on"* for example. That is a hint. Watch *"from now on."* The bass in _this_ video is a distressed finish Black Cloud J-bass. A favorite? It's impossible to answer that question. There have been polls where all of them are within a percentage point or two of 20%.

I love rock and blues because I love the sound of the electric guitar. That puts Kanami in the lead automatically and the fact that she can really play it and also writes almost all of their songs cements her place as my fav member. So talented in so many ways!

My favorite is whichever one I see on the screen at that moment. 😋 Copout answer for sure, but honest. They bring such positive and badass vibes when you see them that it's infectious.

Alas, I cannot have a favorite maid. I love them all. The pigeon is a ball of fire and awesome lyricist, and she inspires me and gives me a kick in the ass. Mincho is mild mannered wildwoman who also happens to be a genius songwriter. Akane plays drums like nobody else - there are very little repetitive patterns. MISA is a "lead bass player" and is bordering on being a legend in her own time. And Saiki? She is the perfect vocalist for hard hitting rock and commands the stage like nobody else! If she says "motto" I yell louder. From the chair. In my house.

MISA's Signature Black Cloud SG Precision is far from what she normally plays. I think it was a much better idea than it was a bass. It got sent back a couple few times to get tweaked. It did make some appearances and was seen no more, and was never released to the public like Miku's Zemaitis Flappy Pigeon was. Lately she's been playing this 5 string version of her since retired original 4 string Fender Jazz bass. The reason you might be thinking it looks like a Tele Bass is the Black Cloud headstock. However she also has been playing a Jaguar Style bass lately. Favorite Maid? Well, I started as a MISA Guy and always will be, but lately it just depends. You have to love them all! How can you not? And even though they're all great in their own unique way they are the most balanced band with each supporting the others. Miku, the founder, dropping back for the last member to take the lead while she concentrates on writing lyrics and learning guitar from second member Kanami is a perfect example, but I could go on and on.

The "B" on MISA's headstock is actually a "beta". As in Black Cloud Black Smoker Beta J5. Based on a Fender Jazz bass rather than a Tele. I'm rather enjoying your discovery. Reminds me of my own, though I just plowed into it without waiting - including the well documented phenomenon known as the "Band-Maid Lost Weekend". Clicking on link after link while thinking "Jayzus, they can't all be this good, can they?" The answer is yes, yes they can!

I think the type of instruments they play has been throughly covered, so I will address the favorite Maid question. Who is my favorite? Hard to choose, as each Maid is endearing in her own way, but, no Miku, no Band-Maid! The Small Pigeon is a strong contender!

Misa used to be my favorite, but I think I'd have to say Miku now. More than anything I appreciate Miku's drive and passion for what she does. If you look into her background, you can clearly see how much work she puts into everything. That being said, I love all the Maids and I don't think a single one of them is replaceable.

MISA has a Fender Bass, but she doesn't like the feel. She uses Black Cloud basses. Miku is endorsed by Zemaitis; Kanami is endorsed by PRS; Akane is endorsed by Tama; and Saiki uses Sennheiser microphones.

Obviously the whole band is insanely talented, but MISA is always the standout. She is without a doubt one of the three best female bassists in the world. And before you say "why differentiate by gender?!". Because if I did not do that, she would not even make the top 100. It is that easy. And NO, it is not because males are better than females. It is simply because of lingering preconcieved gender roles. There were simply exponentially more boys learning bass 20 years ago than there were girls... Give it another 50 years and we will be rid of that as well.
