The "better live" thing isn't just about how they sound, but also their habit of adding little extras to songs for the live shows - added solos, lead/bass battles, extended intros etc. What's more, they change these completely every few months.

Great reaction, you're right, Miku actually recognized herself that her voice didn't fit the genre and sought out a lead singer. Very cool to do that to make them better. No lead I've ever played with would have done that...
@kaazan1
@kaazan1 4 жыл бұрын
Saiki is the real dark queen of rock today in the world, chance also wanted her to have a vampire smile, she can make your hair stand on end when she sings a few meters away from you, and you at the end of the concert you will be absolutely in love with her, you cannot have hope to save yourself. She will lower in front of you and you will hear her natural voice while her hand with very long fingers will dance in front of your face and you will sink into a well of emotion. Akane at first will seem exaggerated and invasive, but then you will understand that no one today can play the drums like her, she is the hammer of God. At the band maid concert, mixing is set a lot on bass and drums, and you can vibrate with Misa throughout the concert in a whirlwind of low notes that you can't even imagine if you don't go to see them in concert. Misa's bass and Akane's drums are truly an explosive mix, but at the concert, you will discover the incredible rhythms on Miku's guitar which is always out of phase and in counterpoint creating really new rhythmic atmospheres, and then weaves crazy choruses with Saiki. in the end, Kanami transforms her guitar into a generator of emotions, she can go on phrasing throughout a song in a way that if you don't go to a concert you can't even understand. She can do things at the speed of light that no one else can but by keeping a soul and an emotion, she does not only perform scale exercises. In conclusion, I went to a Band-Maid concert hit by a friend, and I was amazed, I felt the same forgotten emotions that I felt with the super bands of the 70s and 80s, it was like being at a Led Zeppelin concert, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rush, Queen, maybe even better. and I have seen these bands all in concert even many times. After that incredible evening, I chased the Band-Maid for Europe for a whole week to see other concerts. Incredible concerts in small theaters where I was in the front row 50 centimeters from Saiki, where I dodged the neck of Kanami's guitar that could break my teeth, they are powerful and they have fun while playing, their concerts are something truly unique and indescribable, from a few meters you can see Akane, a slender 165 cm girl who plays with the power of John Bonham for 2 hours in a row continuing to smile and looking around at the spectators. Akane is supernatural believe me. Go to the Band-Maid concert and then maybe you can even die.

Besides being rhythm guitarist and backing vocals, Miku is the bands lyricist, and does vocal arrangements with Saiki. She is the bands founder, their spokesperson, costume designer, and does some of the artwork too. Fun facts: Kanami composes her music with english syllables in mind instead of Japanese "moras". Miku is one of a small group of Japanese musicians able to write Japanese lyrics for Western style music.

Saiki and Miku harmonize so well that you often can't tell them apart. A little more of Miku's vocals can be heard in "Blooming" and "Daydreaming" amongst others. "Rock in me" and "Time" are songs they occasionally play live, with only Miku singing giving Saiki a break. I had a few good laughs, like "It's a maid outfit for the maid queen" and that combined with the piano piece, lol. Also "The fanciest maids in the world", funny and true. Rock On!

Nice reaction. Yeah, you'll love Dice mv. It was made after the song Daydreaming, the latter which took the band (mainly Kanami) an extended and difficult period to make (I definitely recommend you react to it, as it is one of the few softer ballads in Band Maid's catalog, and a stunner to me). Because they had a shortened cycle to make Dice, Kanami didn't spend time arranging the bass and drum lines, and instead left the parts entirely to Misa and Akane. In Dice, the arrangements thus seem a bit more simplistic to me, but very hard-hitting; it's a gem of a song. From a song writing perspective, I'd recommend Yolo MV as well. I think it shows the band's early song writing talent well (Kanami wrote the song before BM's formation).

If you want to see Miku taking the lead, Rock In Me is one of the few songs they have where Saiki takes a break and Miku does the whole song. It’s not as heavy but it’s a fun song. The members of Maid-Band are all to one degree or another professionally trained/educated. How they work, Kanami (lead guitar) composes the music, sending (internet) it to Akane (drums) and MISA (bass) for bass and drums. Miku.(vocals, rhythm guitar, band founder & spokes-pigeon) writes the lyrics. Then to the studio where all of them complete the song. Saiki (vocals) is the one who calls "we're done". Likely because the others would work on a song forever. On the last album Miku and Saiki selected the order of the songs. Recap, they write arrange and produce their own songs. Of course as you just heard they are highly talented and skilled performers, no electronic tricks needed. If you think you play a musical instrument well, there is a Japanese lady who is better than you!! (stolen)

I was at two Band-Maid concerts, in both of them I managed to get in the front row one meter from them, Ban Maid plays with a very regulated mixing on the bass and with a great emphasis on the drums, which is really set well, rarely at a concert can you hear such a real drum, Akane is also very good in the settings and gets a really excellent and vintage sound, the kick drum is very heavy but very short, so you can distinguish the incredible bursts that Akane can shoot, and you can feel them inside your body. as soon as the concert starts you can think that Akane is exaggerated and also very invasive, she plays a lot of notes, but then you realize that she really plays the drums, and she doesn't follow the music she makes the music, I think Akane is the soul of the Band-Maid, it is she who creates this incredible wall of sound that brings you back to the old great musicians but with a modern and fresh music, this is wonderful at the concert and fills with enormous emotion as you vibrate under the blows of Akane and the Misa's whirling phrases on bass. If you listen carefully you can understand that Akane often does really absurd things with the kick, real short precise bursts, she does not do it often but I think she can also be faster than many more famous drummers than her, then Akane composes some truly impeccable drumlines for every song, she is also a great arranger.

Apart from the MC breaks - which include Miku's Magic Spell section and, when touring in Japan they'll do a skit on local customs, legends etc - they play the songs with hardly a break between them, and none of the waffle about this is our new song, we hope you like t stuff, they just jump straight in with playing it. No one changed Miku out. It was her band. It was her idea and she started it. She stepped aside when she realized her voice wasn't right for Hard Rock, but she had always envisioned dual vocals. When they looked for a new lead vocalist, Saiki was working out of the same agency as them. yes they like to add extra bits and pieces to their live performances, if you watch the whole bluray/DVD of this live concert, you will find other short bass/drum/guitar solos in various songs. in fact, the shibuya live started off with Akane's short drum solo...and the first 3 songs Rinne, Blooming and screaming are all high energy ones.... then come other slower pace songs if i remember it right, this one was performed near the end of the show in the bluray, , one or two songs before the finale song "endless story". Speaking of awesomeness, Live>live clips on bluray/DVD>live clips on youtube> MV... Seeing them live at good venues is just pure enjoyment, even better than what you could hear on the computer. If you like them you should go to their live gigs when you have a chance.

Check out The Warning Band. There a three teenage sister rock band out of Mexico. They are a independent band by choice. Labels have been trying to sign them but they want them to play bubble gum Pop. They write thier own music. Have over thirty original songs. Try Dust to Dust live at Lunario CDMX. React from their YT channel HD quality. I'm 52 their my favorite rock band since GNR. Thanks 😊

Kanami can play with the time because she knows that Akane and MISA, and now Miku too since she become so solid on rhythm guitar, have it covered and she can rejoin at her leisure. In the videos for the new album it obvious Miku has taken another step forward as a player and she’s now adding some lead elements to her parts. This band is incredible.

Bold move, dude: same song so soon. But yeah, a good move: they actually got significantly better since they recorded "Domination" in the studio around early 2018. Especially Saiki and Miku.Really enjoyed the reaction and commentary! I was blown away by the energy and power of this performance - even more impressive when you realize that this was the 22nd song in a 23-song, 2 hour+ live performance. How can you not love this band?

These are actually their winter version maid outfits(or finale version of it/not the usual costumes). The live versions have different version arrangements which makes hearing the live version so much more fun to hear!! BTW Miku said she practiced really hard for this version of the song, and played so fast she fell over after the jam part😍👍

re: a band changing things up when they play live, I'm reminded of when I saw Rage Against the Machine back in like, 1997 or something. Note for note it was exactly like the studio version and I was like, what did I come here for? I could have stayed home and not had to breathe in all this dust. The beat-box solo from the opening band was pretty cool, though. But yeah, that's why I go to a live performance. To see the band change things up and mess with each other and laugh and have fun. And sometimes you fuck up (if you're not Band-Maid), but if you're having fun and the audience is having fun, you just laugh and the crowd laughs too and you move on and it's a good time, you know?

Yeah, Dice would be a nice MV to react. For upcomming Band-Maid live reactions, check their Zepp Tokyo and studio Coast live stuff. Live suggestion, PLAY by band Maid at STUDIO COAST. Many live permormances we can't find it using the search function, so check my playlist. It has a lot of unlisted videos (save that playlist, like 2+ users are posting their own uploads).

Yes, the lead guitarist write the majority of the songs. But the rhythm guitarist I think is the band leader. The band and the concept was her idea and grew from there. Either way they are all very talented. And the skill they have is out of this world. I can't wait for the chance to see them in concert. I am in aw of them. I like your reaction.

Miku is the lyricist and Kanami makes arrangements for the songs, so both of them are the main songwriters in the band.

Great reaction! Just adding a little fun fact for you: Miku is the band founder, and yeah was the original lead singer until she realized she didn’t have the power needed. BUT! She is the principal lyricist. She writes the vast majority of the lyrics, and is also the main spokesperson (inside joke from the band is that she is the spokespigeon since her name means little pigeon) when dealing with the public and with the press. She leads “Magic time” which is during the part of the show when the band members take a break and she interacts with the audience and gets them riled up. Sometimes the other band members get on stage and mess around by playing each other’s instruments and joining in on the jokes Miku is telling

Miku writes the majority of the lyrics. Kanami writes her guitar and Miku's. Akane writes drums. MISA writes bass. Saiki sings. If you haven't seen the pics yet there is pics on their site from 2011 when Miku and Kanami went guitar shopping. Them again in 2016. And MISA and Kanami getting new guitars in 2019. They are adorable when they go guitar shopping.
