Welcome to Band-Maid! Just wait until you hear the vocalist! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. Saw them live twice last year on their US tour and yes some fans go dressed as maids. Thank you guys for reacting to the greatest rock band on the planet. And thank you Roger Chance (GuessWho) once again for your hard work.

Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band. Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane. Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar. Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience. MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls. Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).

They do have a vocalist, two in fact. The rhythm guitarist Miku with the red rose in her bonnet is also a vocalist. The main vocalist Saiki does not appear in this video, which is one of a handful of instrumental pieces they have.

🤘Love, Band Maid!!! you got one of their five instrumental songs, the lead singer was not in this one.. The uniforms are inspired from the uniforms the rhythm guitar player used to wear while working at a traditional Japanese Maid Cafe... she started the band and came up with the Maid concept.

Mr. Pastry and Mr. Mattress. Yes, they have a vocalist who is every bit as amazing as these four amazing musicians. And they write kick butt songs that also put a silly grin on your face. They are the most awesome band on earth right now IMO, and I hope to see them again on your channel. First time I've seen you two, and you're funny. These ladies have ten years of ridiculously good songs, and they'd be a household name if they were an English or American band. They sorely deserve more attention! They are great, aren't they? And they have vocals! Two at least: Saiki and Miku (the rythm guitarist). To loosely quote another Maidiac 😅 🎸 Bass solos by Misa are more likely to happen than not. 🥃 🎸 Guitar solos by Kanami are short and crisp 🥁 Akane on drums is 'a beast' 🦍🍌 🕊 Don't underestimate Miku Kobato: She is the founder of the band, bundle of energy, Maid Cafe magician 🪄, is invaluable as a second vocalist and also has a small solo project of her own (Cluppo) 🎙And there is Saiki for the vocals who is missing in this instrumental: She was the Ice Queen but the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed 🤣 🎶 More hooks, riffs and motifs in a song than most bands have on a full album. 💃Their LIVE videos are mostly superior to the official studio MVs, but the MVs are also excellent! 🎵 Many songs have catchy phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in English and Japanese. Most songs are full of joy as well. 🥳 They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other. I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. So, this is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special live videos try Freedom, Play, Real existence and Endless Story. With Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV) and Dice you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are Choose me (MV), Bestie (MV) and Alone (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe About Us (MV) and Daydreaming (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like From now on (MV) and Onset (Live). The pro wrestling walk-on music reference is spot-on -- and I'm not at all into wrestling. But my first covid-lockdown KZfaq discovery before Band-Maid changed my life was Poppy, who went on to do live wrestling music intros, including for a female Japanese wrestler. Poppy also has the same "I do every genre and make it my own" thing that Band-Maid does.

Luv your enthusiasm boys, you felt what I felt when I first heard From Now On. Kanami is the lead guitarist _and_ lead vocalist in this one :) But they have a lead singer, Saiki, whose vocals are unmatched. They play a wide variety of styles, but I have a hunch that you might get a charge out of the live versions of Hate or Domination. But honestly, if you like rock, just pick a card, any card.

Their vocalist is this good too. They use instrumentals to give her a rest. They are even better live. React to "Hate? live.

New sub here. You stand upon the precipice of either falling in love with BandMaid or getting distracted and thinking they are just another band. They're not. They are arguably the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Hyperbole is very difficult to avoid with BandMaid so screw it. I envy you so much. There is so much wonderful music,, tears and laughter ahead of you if you keep listening. There's no way to describe here why all the things they do combine to create the music. Tons of riffs - enough to make an album for most bands in one song. More hooks than grandad's tackle box. Genre bending writing and performances. In damn near every song a sing along bit for the fans to keep us engaged. Word play between English and Japanese homophones is not uncommon. Deep collaboration between all members to allow everyone to shine. What they have done is harness their egos in service to the song. Akane Hirose and MISA are IMHO the greatest rhythm section currently active in rock music. Truly inventive bass and drumming - not over played but always interesting with unusual choices that make the songs rich. They're not just keeping a beat EVER! Magnificent composition and stellar guitar work from Kanami Tono and equally magnificent vocals from Saiki Atsumi grab us by the ears.Then There's Miku Kobato- no Miku no BandMaid. Founder, chief lyricist, vocal harmonies sung while playing rhythm guitar she is the backbone of this group. She's the lead singer who fired herself so that the lead singer would have a more rock and roll voice. She's the singer who learned to play guitar while in the band. A paid professional learning her instrument on the fly. Now she has her own signature model of Zematis electric guitar. She willed BandMaid into existence. I haven't even begun to say all I could.
