The more you react to Band-Maid the more you will understand why so many old rockers (like me) love this band. All of us who grew up with this hard rock music and lost faith that it would survive were completely energized by these five incredibly talented young Japanese women. Rock is not dead, it now resides in Japan.

New sub here. You stand upon the precipice of either falling in love with BandMaid or getting distracted and thinking they are just another band. They're not. They are arguably the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Hyperbole is very difficult to avoid with BandMaid so screw it. I envy you so much. There is so much wonderful music,, tears and laughter ahead of you if you keep listening. There's no way to describe here why all the things they do combine to create the music. Tons of riffs - enough to make an album for most bands in one song. More hooks than grandad's tackle box. Genre bending writing and performances. In damn near every song a sing along bit for the fans to keep us engaged. Word play between English and Japanese homophones is not uncommon. Deep collaboration between all members to allow everyone to shine. What they have done is harness their egos in service to the song. Akane Hirose and MISA are IMHO the greatest rhythm section currently active in rock music. Truly inventive bass and drumming - not over played but always interesting with unusual choices that make the songs rich. They're not just keeping a beat EVER! Magnificent composition and stellar guitar work from Kanami Tono and equally magnificent vocals from Saiki Atsumi grab us by the ears.Then There's Miku Kobato- no Miku no BandMaid. Founder, chief lyricist, vocal harmonies sung while playing rhythm guitar she is the backbone of this group. She's the lead singer who fired herself so that the lead singer would have a more rock and roll voice. She's the singer who learned to play guitar while in the band. A paid professional learning her instrument on the fly. Now she has her own signature model of Zematis electric guitar. She willed BandMaid into existence. I haven't even begun to say all I could. 🤘Love, Band Maid!!! you got one of their five instrumental songs, the lead singer was not in this one.. The uniforms are inspired from the uniforms the rhythm guitar player used to wear while working at a traditional Japanese Maid Cafe... she started the band and came up with the Maid concept.

Their vocalist is this good too. They use instrumentals to give her a rest. They are even better live. React to "Hate? live.

The pro wrestling walk-on music reference is spot-on -- and I'm not at all into wrestling. But my first covid-lockdown KZfaq discovery before Band-Maid changed my life was Poppy, who went on to do live wrestling music intros, including for a female Japanese wrestler. Poppy also has the same "I do every genre and make it my own" thing that Band-Maid does.

Luv your enthusiasm boys, you felt what I felt when I first heard From Now On. Kanami is the lead guitarist _and_ lead vocalist in this one :) But they have a lead singer, Saiki, whose vocals are unmatched. They play a wide variety of styles, but I have a hunch that you might get a charge out of the live versions of Hate or Domination. But honestly, if you like rock, just pick a card, any card.

They do have a vocalist, two in fact. The rhythm guitarist Miku with the red rose in her bonnet is also a vocalist. The main vocalist Saiki does not appear in this video, which is one of a handful of instrumental pieces they have.
