Hope you are doing well. Have you heard a Filipino singer named Morissette Amon. Just started listening to her a few days ago. Has to be the best pop singer I have heard in quite some time. There are a group of cover songs recorded on a mobile bus for a radio show (Wish 107.5) that people have been reacting too; Never Enough, Rise Up, Secret Love Song, Akin Ka Na Lang (original composition). Also there is a cover of Fly Like a Bird out there too. Check it out.

So right about Saiki! Sometimes she seems to get over shadowed by the musical onslaught, but she is carrying the melody virtually all the time with her voice ( inflections, phrasing). I think because of the Japanese language and Miku's lyrics, the melody comes out "better" in the vocals. Make no mistake, Saiki knows what she is doing as much as anyone in the band and I will contest anyone that believes she is not the perfect fit for this band. She has grown into a great front woman as well. I mean it is really special to see her smile on stage.

You are one of very few reactors with over 20k subs that are honest and sticking with bands that YOU really enjoy! It´s not about the clicks, views, likes or anything, i mean that´s important too, but other bands generate more clicks than Band-Maid, but you are always coming back to these fantastic ladies! Thank you for that, i am really dissapointed from other reactors because of that issue! I hope you will get well soon, your throat was really messed up. Best wishes from Germany, keep it up :) P.S.: That´s the reason you still earned my subscription, all the others i cancelled it, even if you are not reacting to them or things i don´t like...

I agree. Other reactors are either overreacting, purists, too bland, , or just for the fad or for patreon requests, or bias to their favorite genres. This channel and Chase (some from Dicodec) are the only reactors who focused on the details in both their performance ability and songwriting.

@@kairukafuka6022 I didn´t want to mention it, but Chase is one of those reactors... He is really accuared and i learned a lot about music, but it´s only Nightwish and other stuff since months and he said "quote": Band-Maid is important to the music on it´s own, so why he is not reacting to them anymore? I don´t get it, for me it´s just for the views, so i don´t support him anymore. I was on his and Tank´s Discord and tried to let them do Band-Maid stuff for some weeks and no reaction, so for me it´s not worth it anymore to spend my time there.
@kairukafuka6022

@@Slippy6582 Yeah, I noticed. Chase's reactions on BAND-MAID is getting shallower every video. Either he has ran out of curiosity on other their songs, now that he has predicted the band's usual arrangement, or It's probably he's already resorted to listen the rest of BAND-MAID's stuff like their full albums. As for Tank, he's probably less interested in Japanese music that BAND-MAID's videos are at their low priority and he's lost interest after he reacted on FREEDOM, which is not metal.

Miku's whisper is arguably my favorite part of this song! Every time I hear it, I think to myself "you had me at 'breaking new gate'!" I also love the "crowd chanting" bits. Not only for its audience participation moment to connect with the audience, but for it being used to let the tension rebuild after the solo so that last chorus can give you that full-on kick to the gut! Plus it allows the "least metal" aspect of the final crowd chant to become metal with the brutally heavy 16ths on the kick drum that perfectly complements what was, at first a juxtaposition. Kanami is truly a songwriting/arranging goddess!!!

I have this weird hunch that it might’ve something to do with the phrase “Dilly dally shilly shally” popularised by Tifa in the movie Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children (English dub). That movie has made quite some waves in the Anime/game community since its release, not surprising considering its arguably the most popular one among the massive Final Fantasy franchise. I myself had heard that phrase on popular media for the first time in that movie and well, it was rare and memorable enough that I instantly recalled that even though its been a decade and a half since I last watched it.

Interesting that Kanami's lack of ego allowed her to see the fabulous talent of Akane and Misa and let them feature so heavily in the mix. As composer she has every opportunity to promote herself especially as she constantly riffs between solos but she gives them every opportunity to shine and they repay with fantastic support. Similarly she lets the beloved Saiki stand front and centre while she is always to the side and often in the shadows. Five musicians with god given ability who are prepared to give one another space.

There is something about the bass sound on the fast parts here that really reminds me of Ace of Spades, Motörhead. It's such a bad-ass sound! Try The Dragon Cries for a real LedZep feel, bluesy, dark, heavy and just amazing!

If you hear the end again when the synth comes in after the song you might recognize it as the intro to Puzzle. No rest between songs!

Totally get it man, this is like pure Zeppelin (with just a touch of Sabbath in the breakdown ) and then the singalong, which is pure Band Maid. One of my ( many ) favourites ! Hope your throat gets better soon, great reaction as always !

Good review & analysis. “Moratorium” is one of my all time favorites. In this performance, at the end, you hear the synth intro to the next song which is “Puzzle” another amazing song that you should hear. Akane’s drumming (pedal work) is amazing.

Wonderful... take care and it’s nice to see and hear you again. If you ever find time to do it in the future, I hope you’ll have a listen to YOLO. I believe the song title doesn’t do it favors and hence the official video is criminally under-watched. I feel like it is an amazingly-written song. While my favourite band-Maid songs keep revolving, YOLO constantly remains in my top 3-5 all the time.

Heck yeah!!! That was awesome. Loving the breakdown, you bring so much out that I don't hear until you point it out. I've heard this song hundreds of times and the breakdown makes me appreciate these ladies more and more. Much props, no complaints from here about pausing.

Really glad that Band-Maid has made it onto your poster collection! Another excellent reaction and analysis! I'm going to add to the requests for "Daydreaming" (live from Zepp Tokyo 2018 if possible but the MV is still good) and "Rinne" (pick the MV as the only live version on KZfaq is shortened by over 1 minute for a TV promo) I hope your throat gets well soon!

actually, just double checked the versions of Daydreaming and I would actually recommend the 2017 live version from Shinkiba STUDIO COAST over the 2018 one

Great breakdown analysis! You've got to do it for YOLO and Non Fiction Days. What would be great is for you to hear the song once (with only the necessary YT pauses) to get the full impact of the piece... and then a second time with the breakout comments.
