This is vintage Band Maid. They do wonderful stuff you don't expect while keeping to the Band Maid method of song production. Saiki and Miku's voices add such a beautiful female tone to face melting rock.

Akane is the star this time, not to take anything from the others who are all performing at the highest level. The dear scruffy little genius has again written a complex piece that takes several listens before you get a handle on it. Produced for an aime and is pure perfection. Onwards and upwards.

I think the thing that really stands out to me after many listens and time to settle in is how at home this could be on any US rock or alternative radio station's hot list of songs. If the average person who has no idea who they are heard this it's catchy and accessible to the masses with just the right Band Maid flavor to satisfy those who already love them. I hope this next leg of the US tour is their best yet, and wonder if this song will get a US debut performance.

Yes, Shambles is the Akane show with special guest stars Kanami, MISA, Saiki and Miku. But wait! Was it really the Kanami show, because she wrote the song and played it with such forcefulness and exquisite abandon. Or was it the MISA show because without MISA, the rapturous drive of the song would be a ride on four flat tires. Or was it the Saiki show because she focused the sonic chaos into a song with melodies that could express Miku's lyrics like no other singer could. Without Saiki, Shambles might sound like a familiar instrumental. Or was it the Miku show because, damn, she wrote the lyrics, played the important rhythm parts, and added her unique brand of backup vocals that have become a defining "sixth instrument" of Band-Maid. So exactly whose show was it? It was the Maid's show, as usual! 🤘🎀🤘 Thx, Champ!

Misa going into the bridge, I'm getting some stoner rock bass vibes there; overlayed with a brief moment of early Swervedriver "Mezcal Head" era guitar tones before Kanami comes in with her solo; I love that!!!

The song also serves as the next ending theme for the brawler anime Kengan Ashura. A different take - Miku's lyrics are perfect for the brawler theme. She back in her dark place where her lyrics come from. Too many reactors ignore Miku's lyrics which is half the song. After all it's her band!!!

Great review I had to sub, like you said there is so much going on but they have their way of making it work. GENIUS !! I want to see them when they come to Vegas. I just left a comment for this song on their page saying I would love to see a co-headline tour with them and The Warning. Did you ever see the short clip when they met? I think it was in LA. They hugged and were so excited to see each other. Really awesome !! They could film the tour and make s super cool DVD showing on stage and back stage footage with all members bringing out the best in each other. I would buy it in a heartbeat !!

I enjoy the anime Kengan Ashura immensely, so this comes as a truly delightful surprise for me. I will certainly not skipping the ending for this season 2.

Talking about short guitar solos. I think the girls compose the bridges as a complete construction and the bass and guitar solos and the vocal arrangements are part of a whole. If Kanami wanted longer solos she would do it herself (Blooming or Sense, for example) but she would have them inserted into longer bridges without a doubt. In a three minute song (this is an anime ending) that's unlikely.

I am reminded of a cartoon from when I was young....mid 60's... Squiddly Diddly. A squid....6 arms (tentacles). There was an episode where he played drums. Akane plays drums like someone with six limbs...always!! Misa?...What can you say? Miku? The BACKBONE of the band. Kanami?...she is a genius. And Saiki...I just watched the Loolapalooza set. She is Fabulous!!!! One of the best performances I have ever seen. Please take my advice...and you will.. Live long and prosper. 🖖

for me the whole song is supported by Akane and Miku's part (bass drum and guitar strum and chug), perfect rythm section throughout the song. and Miku's backing vocal tone push up the melody in contrast, ties the whole song together. two vocals works like guitar pickup.

For all you reactors, this question... Do any of y'all get the Sense like I do, that Band Maid is finally truly breaking out, sorry, breaking new gate?? I see new reactors all the time now on YT, and the already on-board reactors realizing that these ladies are THE band right now, no matter how many other bands they review. Here's the thing. Band Maid has maid ( pun intended! ) their mark already, anybody who falls into their 10 yr rabbit hole will find an existing catalog of compositions 90% of the bands in the R & R Hall of Fame couldn't come close to , nor play as well live. The only thing they have lacked coming out of a small nation like Japan, is marketing and visibility. The visibility is increasing daily now it seems, yes, we have a ways to go but the momentum is positive. I would like to be a fly on the wall in the music industry I have to believe the Lolla show will contiunue to influence festival organizers to add BM and get them towards or on the top of the marquee.

So far, I'm not digging it because it's a very J-anime type song, which is what it's for. Intro reminds me of Freezer, melody reminds me of Sense, I'll and some other songs. I'm happy that everyone seems to be loving this. 😊
