Their live channel recently released four Official Live videos from their concert at Yokohama Arena last November. "Unleash!!!!!", "Don't You Tell ME", "Hate?" and "Endless Story" Yokohama Arena was the last show of their 10th Anniversary tour, and "Endless Story" was the finale. Very emotional.

Thanks for your reaction Sassja. The live video you watched was performed without an audience, part of a live stream they put out during the pandemic. They streamed a number of concerts during 2020/2021 to stay in touch with their fans when they couldn't play in front of them. If you get a chance, I think you'll find that their concerts with fans are electric.

Best hard rock band in the world, probably in decades. They cross genres so often you can't truly pin them down but hard rock is their main bread and butter.

I think you made the right choice by listening to "Thrill" as their 1st music video. Many of us "older" Maidiac's first heard them thru this song... and this is what started their incredible journey... with us tagging along enjoying every second. Welcome to the Wide Wide World of Band-Maid!!

This band has grown a lot since this song and they have much more musical differences now than back then. One of the best live bands around. I recommend the same songs as can be found by other commenters, but especially HATE from their last tour, the official live video.

I would recommend any of their Yokohama Arena official live videos, or Domination live. The latter is more of an overview of their music, but every Band-Maid song is a little different. The live versions released around the time of Thrill live were from online concerts during lockdown, they don't have the crowd interaction. Almost any recent official live video will have something fresh and different for you, even though to my ear they all sound like Band-Maid. I'm a Maidiac, though, so I'm biased.

I see you finally found them, my favorite band :) . I figured after Rolling Quartz and DIH you would arrive at BAND MAID eventually :) . This is an old video but even back then it was easy to see they had “it”. Dig in … you will love them.

A lot changed for Saiki between the official MV and the live you watched. She had throat surgery and fought hard to come back with her singing. She sounds much better and has indeed matured with her voice. Miku didn't know how to play the guitar yet in the MV and it was just a prop, and she was actually playing in the live version...her teacher is Kanami the lead guitarist. Lots of great music from this very talented band to enjoy.

I had the exact same feeling about this song when it first came out. A couple of years later I decided to give them another listen when they relesed their world domination album and have been hooked ever since. I would recomend trying the song Domination next based on your reaction. I think it has everything you said you wished this song had and more, especially the live version

This is often the first song people experience by them, but it's really not the best song to encapsulate what they're about. During their first few albums, they had little creative control over the compositions and lyrics. On about their fourth album, they got rid of the outside creative collaborators and started writing and composing themselves, and their sound and style really blossomed at that point. They are also really built to be a live band, and their live performances are often better than the studio recordings. As a general rule, if you have a choice between a music video and an official live video, always go with the official live! They are one of the best live acts in hard rock today, and you'll have to cross the line into the metal world (especially the female Japanese metal world) to find anyone close to their level!

This is an old song, written for them. It’s okay. They’ve since taken complete creative control of their writing, and it’s much more interesting, and kind of less radio friendly. If you want to see everyone get a little feature, you can check out Domination official live. If you want something a little flashier, check out Hate? official live. They’re a really interesting, talented, dynamic band. Thrill is a little too basic for them at this point, ironically, I guess.

Good reaction and good analysis. You are correct, the singer's voice has matured. She had vocal cord surgery in 2017 and rehabilitation therapy with a vocal teacher for singers after surgery. Her voice is now much stronger and fuller than before. For any new musically group, it normally takes at least three songs to get an idea of what the band is about. If you like complexity in songs then they have that in spades which if you continue with Band Maid , you will discover. As others have said, once Kanami took over primary song composing duties they veered away from what was essentially poprock and to my mind anyway became a progressive rock band.

This was their beginning. They were pretty good back then, but wait until you see them NOW. They're even BETTER. "Thrill was written for them by Kentaro Akutsu, but now they write and produce their own music. This is one band that never disappoints and typically exceeds expectations at each new release. The Maids experiment a lot, but their successes seem to outweigh their failures. Yes, do seek out their live videos, Band-Maid is one of the best live acts you'll ever see. They have Tons of 'Official Live Videos' that have much more energy than the studio recordings. Try "Puzzle" Official Live at Tokyo Garden Theater. I love their live videos for "Domination", "Freedom", "Moratorium" and "Cross". And you have to watch their instrumentals: "Onset" and "From Now On" truly mind-blowing. They don't always wear maid outfits. Watch their latest video "Bestie" and their 'Band-Maiko videos: "Secret Maiko Lips" and "Gion-cho". The Band-Maiko videos are an April Fools Day prank that Band-Maid takes to jaw-dropping extremes.

Welcome to the Maidiacs! One key difference between the 2 vids is that Miku (Red Rose, 2nd Vocalist, Rhythm 19:23 Founder of the band) was actually playing that guitar in the later vid. She was totally playing air guitar in the earlier because she had recently (and unselfishly) stepped aside as lead singer to make room for Saiki. a stronger singer she felt was necessary for the music they wanted to make. She then picked up the guitar and, with instruction Lead Guitarist, Kanami, has become quite an accomplished guitarist, stepping out of the "rhythm" role more and more over the years. Quite impressive!! But thats to be expexted from who i call the most adorable force of nature on the planet. If you really want ti see how incredibly they've grown, check out Hate? Live from their recent 10th anniversary tour finale. It's an awesome display of their goddess tier talents. Then, follow it up with Endless Story, the show's and tour's final song to witness the emotional love fest they have with their fans. As long as Thrill is a nice entree point to Bnad Maid, it's not at all the best representation of their exceptional talent. Go for From now on or Onset.

ning, thank you for taking time to listen to these amazing musicians. di ka nagkamali, their live versions/performances are better -- even way off the charts, if i may describe it personally. you've made pinpoint observations that these ladies will answer and further confirm once you dig deeper into their catalog. yes, it's indeed nascent music, but this song provided their music trajectory. from here on, they've made tremendous leaps in terms of their music and interpersonal growth. their last major "serving" was in november 2023 that capped their tenth anniversary -- and there were select performances that got released in their channel. will leave it to you to check out any of them. you won't be disappointed. i cannot convince you with my words here, but damn, what they are contributing to rock music is so special. you familiar with the expression "walang tapon"? this is it. they are that. ang bandang walang tapon. side note: they have just released "bestie", their newest song in collaboration with incubus' guitarist/founding member mike einziger. it's refreshing to watch -- they're not in their "battle armour".

Honestly, I don't get why people recommend this song as an introduction to Band-Maid all the time. I get that it was their break through song and it is not a bad song, but I think they released much more interesting songs since.
