One thing I learned about coaching in any type of sports. It’s not about being ready for the occasion, You coach your kids on what you believe their abilities are. It’s clear Deonte knew his kids abilities while the Mr. French leaned towards power. If you believe your kids can play collegiate pieces then you will teach them. Good job both bands.

Finally someone admits the truth. I been saying this for a while KB. That man and those kids are way past the grade level for marching band pieces. The fact that we are even putting his kids in the conversation of college arrangements is the evidence of how good they are.

We didn’t come to play!!!! No competition!!!! We had some light errors but overall we nailed it!!!! Let’s not forget…..Our dancers are amazing!!!! They showed out all while serving face and moves hunti!! ❤❤❤❤❤ #ProudBandParent

It's not what you play it is how you execute..tge first goes to carver...Craigmont had too many missed notes and mistakes in their arrangements especially the first song out the gate..but good battle

So are we ignoring the missed notes from carver trumpets on every song in between phrases or finishing the musical line? Are we not pointing out the baritone intonation ? Let alone the Tuba. Why do yall critique that man program so hard. I get he arrogant but how can y’all judge him on a colligate level then be upset when people say his program is vastly more musical than others ? Them few missed notes does not compare to sheer musicality of that piece. I heard SU play clouds and that’s damn good for a high school. Almost to damn good.

Both waters were just okay. Carvers was underwhelming and Craigmont version did way too much, it had too much going on which took away from the smoothness and cohesiveness of the song. some songs speak for themselves where you really don’t have to over embellish it to make it something. Neither one of them finessed water at all. Deonte is a great arranger but he does too much to his arrangements sometimes instead of letting them breathe. Craigmont won overalll though.

Carver's arrangement sounded like most of the arrangement's I've heard so far (POWER). But Craigmont's arrangement was colorful and creative. I like how Deonte inserts his artist expressions into the arrangement and the fact that his students can articulate his vision is amazing to me. To me, that's speaks volume's about his teaching abilities. I wish my high school band director would have challenged us like that instead of just collecting a paycheck.

I’m call a spade a spade. Craigmont is the better high school group. How yall go sit and act like carver didn’t have mistakes. If we being honest after Craigmonts Clouds they were by far the more superior band. It’s PLENTY MISTAKES IN CARVERS MUSIC. PLENTY MISTAKES. Trumpets phrases, baritones had horrible tone on water. Mello’s tone as group was 50/50. Absolutely no TUBA or Woodwinds. Yall not about to keep spinning this narrative that Craigmont was the only band making mistakes.

More my a** I’m not crazy but that whole intro to water was not it. The intro to nasty girl the trumpets was all over the place. Carver repeated “Flowers” they just played that at St Aug a few min before this battle. And TUBAS WAS non existent. Make it make sense.
