SU played 4 different hip hop songs and dances from the region of the song in the dance block. So they did stick to the theme. Just because you don’t recognize the songs doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. And the Ghosts Busters theme the big boys dance to was in Pepsi ads. Your just to young to know that

I really like the arrangement, just too many intricate parts written for the tuba section, in my opinion.

I love SU my top band but NSU had a better field show they can’t match SU for big power sound from the brass when it was in the stands but NSU brings the dynamics when it comes a hybrid sound with ripples and runs and the drill team and the million dollar funk drum squad check them out again they lost in the stands to Su but not the field

Th field show was A-1. It was intricate and something a bit newer for the KZfaq age. The ballad was crisp and dynamic and the dolls feature was powerful. The dance routine needed a bit more edge, but SU stuck to the script on that- even thought the blow down was thunderous and very powerful, I would have liked a different song in this space, but overall, SU brought the fawkin mustard per usual. One thing I would recommend for ALL bands is to keep the drive during the whole field show. Tempo Tempo Tempo- the snares carry the tempo and they need to be about a 1/2 step quicker just to keep the bands driving for the whole show. Love the #KANGS #JUKES, it’s going to be a helluva season this year. - Salute, KB, keep representing!

Not a bad assessment; but you gotta give Mississippi Valley and FAMU more props. Honestly, it was a hard pick(s) because ALL OF THEM were Good! It's really just a matter of WHO STOOD OUT!!! 💯❤🙏🏽🎼🎵🎶

Southern’s field show was amazing as always from the drum major intro, to the drill formations, till the dance routine and they have a real good sideline blowdown. The song Grateful was executed flawlessly by Dr. Todd and bands better watch out for his pen 😅. Also, the song focusing on the Dolls is perfection at its finest especially with those runs. Nobody does it better than the Jukes. 💛💙

Definitely respect your critic and honesty about The Jukebox and all other bands at this battle. This drill by the Jukebox was more complex than most realize. Degree of difficulty was max level. After the big circles becomes huge diamonds they then start the diamond drill. Instead of the traditional step 2 off of the line, four members leave the line together then spread to the step 2. This continues until the last 8 leaves the line together. Awesome and new. Never done before. This diamond drill is so fluid, lines straight as a needle and executed perfectly. This was a brand new drill by the Jukebox and easily the most complex and difficult drill of the night.

What about FAMU? More complex, with more people. They ALL WERE GREAT; not taking away from SU; but it's a different variation of the 2 step interval.

SU is a cut and paste band, and the 2 step drill is not a hard execution.

Good review I respect that my dude. I liked it felt it was either 1st or 2nd IMO in the field show. But still did their thing.

SU drills were top tier but you couldn't hear them play during the drills and i dont know about those song selections. Oh and the big guys looked a mess out of synch

That's what I don't like about step 2 drills, it leaves the sound going from end zone to end zone, bands should want there sound focused towards th crowd more

The sound was great! Love the dancing team! The drill was ok but saw better. Stop the block marching. You are better then that. Don’t hold back. And not impressed with the dance drill either. But Southern did impress the crowd .

Bandhead please research the histories on some of these HBCU bands: their origins, former directors, marching styles etc. It would greatly enhance your presentation, increase your credibility, add some depth to your analysis. I'm not being critical. Just suggesting some positive growth and enhancements. You could use your analysis to help educate your followers. Many band directors/staff had/have FAMU roots.

I agree with you with. I think for a long time it was southern and everybody else when it comes to the field shows. Still good but not #1 the last few years.

I absolutely LOVE THE CHANNEL first and foremost but what I see is if it isn’t obvious to you or easily recognized then you immediately don’t care for it. I often hear you say I like the ENERGY but being hype and being “Lit” all the time doesn’t always represent musicianship SU’s arrangements are more than half of the musicians in the SWAC can even attempt to handle we just grow different kind of musicians in NOLA every other door is a person who can play an instrument and read music. That being said keep up the good work Brotha you have the best format and the most engaging channel when it comes to reaction band videos salute 🫡

That drill was top tier. Dance routine was a lil dry. Overall my opinion they won hands down. Like Dr. Gregg’s say often imitated never duplicated. Some people love to hate on the jukebox because them other country ass bands can’t do what they do. On their worse day they still top any other band. TxSU like y’all too B. Simmons got them boys right. For the rest like bubba dub say TRASH!!! 😂😂😂

Biased (typical) SU fan Opinion. ALL THE BANDS WERE GOOD! Southern didn't do ANYTHING that made them STAND OUT over any other bands performance. YES, Southern is ALWAYS going to be good. But, nothing exceptional. The only reason you're REALLY giving TXSU its props is because Simmons is an SU product. Coming from former Ocean Alumni, who marched under Prof. Butler, and was very acquainted with Prof. Greggs! Whoosh!!! 🌊

Yeah they didn’t do anything for hip hop. They like using numbers they could have put the 50 on the field and I would have been happy.

Tired seeing the dance blocks. The dance routine was very sloppy. Looked rush and the same moves every year. Everything else from the drum major, formation routine, the gospel song, dancing doll dance routine, to the blowdown was A1. #GeauxJukebox 💙💛

SU quality of sound all day! The only bands that come close to SU are Jackson State and FAMU. The best field show that weekend goes to Jackson State all the way from ATL.

I think they were mocking FAMU. I've seen other angles and it looks like their movements are kinda sloppy on purpose during that "rattle"

They’re not mocking FAMU. Southern has been doing the speed steps into the dance routine since the 60s.
