One of the reasons that Bane is in my top 5 favorite members of Batman’s rogues gallery is because of his honor. He’s not a mustache twirling supervillain like a lot of them. He’s genuinely a man with a conscience, and while he is quite obviously a deeply troubled individual, he isn’t evil.

i think nightwing as a character is a bit of a hardass who takes his job too seriously. Secret Six is such a great series. More people need to be aware of it.
@randallflagg370011 ай бұрын
It's a great series, one of my favorite Gail Simone titles alongside "Birds of Prey" and "Villains United"... my only little (and probably unpopular) issue with it is that they made Catman a little _too_ cool. I fell in love with Catman thanks to *Batman: The Brave and the Bold* , in particular in the episode "Legends of the Dark Mite!" (written by Paul Dini) In *Secret Six* , I thought that taking the loser Catman from Brad Meltzer's *Green Arrow* run and having him turn his life around was a neat idea, but he just became waaaay too cool & strong, even having an even fight with Batman at some point. Fought Batgirl (Babs) to a draw. Beat Huntress. Had all the chicks (and some dudes) fawning over him. Scandal Savage & Knockout literally want his babies because of his awesome genes... Yeah, he was a bit too OP in every area for my taste. (Still a great run, the villain "Junior" was legit terrifying...)

At no point would I have considered Gotham 'Belonging' to Batman. It's a very interesting term 'Belonging' and even more so that an intellectual such as Bane would use those words. It's almost as though to the eye of the villains and maybe even civilians that Batman is just another Gangster, another power-hungry Crime Lord of sorts and who 'owns this town'. Mess with Batman? He'll send his Robins after you! Now just flip that sentiment with any other villain and their goons. It's changed my perspective.
@Elfenlied867530910 ай бұрын
I don't know if you've ever read Bane's first appearance in "Knightfall" Where Batman gets his back broken but Bane only goes to Gotham to kill Batman because one of his henchmen tell him that Gotham is the ultimate city in the world. So Bane asks "Who is the strongest person in this city?" and his henchman tells his "The Batman." Bane eventually announces to Gotham "I have destroyed Batman. I rule the streets, and I rule Gotham. This city is mine!" Bane having been raised in prison only has a mindset that the strongest person gets to be in charge, so he believed by rule of strength Batman "Owned" Gotham and then he did by defeating Batman. It's an extremely long story but it's pretty interesting if you can put up with art that is pretty dated by today's standards.
