Although disappointing in it's result this video was very helpful to me :-) I thought of using a Yamaha WXAD 10 to feed the musiccast network's sound to a Level' s line in. But now I have your proof that it would certainly cause delay from the DSP. Too bad.
@soundsheavenly
@soundsheavenly 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, glad my video was helpful. The audio delay shouldn't usually be an issue for music listening unless you wish to play the Level alongside other speakers. For TV viewing, however, the delay can cause issues as the sound will lag behind the TV picture.
@6rimR3ap3r
@6rimR3ap3r 2 жыл бұрын
@@soundsheavenly yeah it was meant to be able run in sync with the livingroom AV receiver and the Sound projector in the bedroom, like a Party mode for synced sound in every room. It's mainly because options on Yamaha's side are kind of limited in terms of simple solutions. So it looks like I have to decide on either Yamaha NXN 500 for synced musiccast, limited to one more room - or try the Level without the musiccast function but flexible in two rooms and beyond. Thank you :-)

in most modern TV you can actually set the "lip sync" so that you can delay the picture to match the delayed audio in, for example the level. But these settings are often hard to find and a bit hard to setup...
@soundsheavenly
@soundsheavenly 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can be quite tricky to set the lip sync adjustment on a TV (and many TVs don't have this at all). Better to use a speaker like Beosound Stage via HDMI ARC to allow the TV and speaker to set the adjustment automatically.

Interesting video Steve! I listened on my Beoplay E8 2.0 earbuds. I jumped between the tracks you played and the Royds sounds clearly much "airy" and the Level a bit "muffled". Is that your impression as well, or is that a result of the way the music is recorded?
@soundsheavenly
@soundsheavenly 3 жыл бұрын
The Royds have a slightly unruly treble, so they can be a bit too “airy” at times. The Level was a bit better controlled, with just a fraction less mid and treble but still a nice tone overall.

Steve I’ve just bought the gold level it’s fab May I ask and as a fellow Bang and Olufsen fanatic Did the Minstrel speakers manage to hit the sweet spot of your microphone as or was that just the camera angle you used to show the height of the tower speakers in comparison to the level ??? As good as this speaker is I am a little puzzled more like disappointed on the B&O Beosund Level lack of universality with respect to audio delay to any non B&O devices despite having dedicated Ethernet port and Optical line out for the speaker of this calibre and price, personally I find it unacceptable when you pay super premium price for a product that is purely designed to keep you locked in the B&O Eco system no matter how much of a masterpiece it happens to be. This almost reminiscing apple business practices reminding me of the B&O first attempt on wireless apple play on their first B&O beolit12 which was a touch and go and very poor wireless connection performance. Got to admit I just might have to wait for the B&O Level 2nd Gen or Second edition if there ever going to be one because this one still need some very serious finishing touches to be called a complete personal sound system at this price range. Thanks again for another wonderful detailed informative review as always Steve.
@soundsheavenly
@soundsheavenly 3 жыл бұрын
The audio delay is generally common to all the current B&O wireless speakers, as this is part of the audio processing. Hence, you can use any of the current B&O speakers multiroom together without any issues. The problem only comes if you use a Level or similar speaker directly with a non-B&O TV, AV system or older Beolab speakers. There are lots of software upgrades to follow in the coming months for the Level, so you should see greatly improved compatibility across the B&O speaker range.

Afternoon Steve. Hope you and yours all well. Could you answer me this question please. My friend recently purchased a Boesound 2 and paired it with her B&O Horizon tv and she’s is experiencing a sound delay between the two devices. Is this because the Beosound 2 has a similar sound processor as the Beosound Level? Kind Regards Neil
@soundsheavenly
@soundsheavenly 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Neil. As Beosound 2 uses B&O's Network Link system, you should be able to adjust for this delay in the B&O app (this is different to the Level, which doesn't currently have this feature). Please check in the B&O app for an option marked "Network Delay" and set this to the lowest possible value (ideally zero), then the delay should be greatly reduced.
