I used to bike on such narrow path along canals. The ones I used to ride on don't have any guard rail at all and one biker even fell into the canal and we needed to bail him up. I never rode on one with a guard rail at all. Wat Paknam is famous and the Buddha statute is the biggest in Bangkok. Klong Bangluang is the canal that you see the artist house and the temple. This canal runs to Chao Phraya river. I started learning my swim on this canal 62 years ago when I was 7 with no supervision. Just dipping and flowing with friends and soon we just learned to float and swim in one hour naturally. The last temple Wat Prayun is on the bank of Chao Phraya river and near King Rama I bridge, the oldest steel bridge across Chao Phraya river. I used to walk to my secondary school through this temple and across the bridge on the other side from Grade 8-12 about 3.5 km from my house.

This Thailand ride is so different from the Japan cycle series. I can’t imagine riding along the river trail during rain season. Stay safe and healthy to all.

The side streets of Bangkok with the canals and narrow elevated concrete "roads" are unlike anything I have ever seen. If it weren't for you two being there, most of us would never have witnessed such places. Thank you. John

Having the Strava route to follow is excellent. It’s like having a tour guide so you don’t get lost but you can go at your own pace. Amazing things to see along the city canals and never get tired of temples especially if they have Buddha statues. Making me miss Bangkok so much. 🇹🇭🚴🏻‍♀️🚴🏻‍♂️💪🏻

Thank you for sharing another wonderful bike adventure. Watching Thuong’s reaction to the fish was priceless! However, her deadpan “You drank half of it,” comment made me laugh out loud. May I suggest a bike ‘n fishing video soon. I think we would all love watching her fish. Something tells me she has some fishing experience. Be safe. Blessings.

That looked like fun. So many twists and turns on that ride. About the canals with fish... Maybe use your GoPro Boom mount and waterproof enclosure to take a peek below the water. For additional fun, I bet you’d get a swarm if you attach food to it. Of course, don’t feed the fish if it’s forbidden!

OMG me and my wife road one of those boats in a floating market about 2 hours north of BKK. We were the only people. My wife told him to go faster. He gave us a big grin and floored it. We were holding on for dear life. It was a Turbo charged boat and apparently they race this at events. Super fun.

Bangkok used to be called the Venice of the East because of all the canals, many of which were filled in after the war to create roads.

I think the railing is more so for older people who maybe need to lean on something to walk if their balance has deteriorated, definitely not for regular preventative safety.

The artist canal was among my favorite spots in Bangkok! The Japanese name of the fish streamer is Koinobori. Thank you again for the wonderful video that really makes me miss Bangkok!

What an exciting ride which to me, felt full of exotic unfamiliar sights experienced from the comfort of my familiar surroundings. I could almost smell those delicious cooking aromas and those marrow canal walkways were really thrilling. As for that giant golden Buddha , it felt like a giant film prop, rather than a religious statue… By the way , it might be wise to ensure that you both are up to date with your tétanos shots to be safe for your next adventures.

In bangkok bicycle is more recommended 👌 because it's more environmental, safe, healthy, quiet 🤫 and economical than motor bike.

Here's some ideas for future videos, look up the local Japanese expat biking communities (BKK and CM) and get to know the lay of the land or their thoughts of living in Thailand full time or part time through them. Yes there's a huge Japanese expat community in both cities since many Japanese firms are located there. I'm not going to give you all the locations and answers, I'm going to make you work a little to find these pockets because you'll learn more about these cities by doing some research. But I'll give you some big clues. In BKK look up Thong Lo Rd or as the locals call it, Soi Thong Lo or Soi Thong Lor. It's a big foodie street that's also has a big Japanese expat scene. There's a certain small shop there that has a bunch of two wheeled contraptions (that also serves a good cup of Joe). Drop in and start speaking Japanese to most likely the Thai girl (or maybe even the Japanese owner) working there. Let me know how it goes.

We're already in Chiang Mai, but we did find a few Japanese community areas in Bangkok, which was really cool to see. Half of the shopping mall restaurants are also Japanese too LOL

From your videos i don't think watching out for pedestrians or bicyclists are high on motorists priorities in BKK. The road rules seem to be taken as a guide only, not literally.

Saigon is full of those alleyways which can be a challenge. One major difference is that in Saigon there area a lot more families hanging out in these alley ways. Thailand for sure has a ton more Temples and the idols split between Temples and Pictures of the King of Thailand.

How do the narrow handlebars feel to you both? FYI swapped mine for 600 mm wide bars, feels better in terms of handling & comfort. Ride safe you two.

You got backyard farms, canal-side walkways, ramps everywhere, fish for Thuong-chan to oggle at :-D AND a less than? 1000 Yen meal for two! I thought riding in NYC was tough. The traffic on the larger roads is intense. Some of those side roads look a bit sketchy. Hope you guys got your rabies shots. Watch out for aggressive Fidos!

I feared for your channel once you left Japan - but this is very interesting. I have to admit I feel somewhat foolish for having a casual impression of Thailand as just a place for sex tourism, as it is portrayed in the western media. Kudos to you for showing the normal side of life - the tourist board should sponsor you. It looks like a very nice place - interesting to see full size cars and trucks too.

It's unfortunate that Thailand gets that reputation, but there are a lot of different people who come here for different reasons. We came for the great cycling, food and weather :) It's been a lot of fun experiencing the differences coming from Japan.

Roads there are too narrow and it's more difficult when you use mountain bike with wide handlebar..dogs are the no1 enemy of a cyclist..I think it's fun going fishing in your balcony😊

The “fish windsock” is called Koinobori. Im surprised you don’t know that because you speak nihongo so well. Anyway I was a bit skeptical about your content once you left Japan. But you have removed all doubt. You and and your wife have made some good edits so far and have brought interesting content that i am enjoying very much. Get some MTB in when you get Chiang Mai!

If you get bit by a dog, you should IMMEDIATELY go to a hospital and start a rabies series. This was uploaded some time after it was shot, long enough for you to be terminally ill by now. Since you're apparently still alive, it looks like you got lucky this time. Go to a doctor ASAP anyway; I'm not certain about that timing.

@@TwoWheelCruise Hopefully no next time will happen, but please do be more careful. Get some accurate public health information about rabies in Thailand, and SE Asia in general. Random KZfaq commenters may not be the best source LOL. But I was advised to get the shots during my first visit to Thailand in the 1980's. There was a barely visible scratch. As much as I dislike Japan's deadly policy towards stray animals, it probably cuts down on rabies.
