I went to Bankok a few months ago after living in the Philippines for more then a year. I was really surprised how much Bankok is so much more progressed then the Philippines. The only problem i encountered is the general lack of knowledge of the English language. Other then that, i am trying to convince my Filipina wife to move to Thailand. We will visit Thailand again in July.

@snakemasterthorno - instead of expecting the Thai locals to speak English, why don't you try to learn Thai? Do you think it's fair for a Thai immigrant to go to your country and expect everyone there to speak Thai? Fortunately, the younger generation has a better knowledge of English than the older generation. As soon as the older generation dies off, the generation left behind will be more fluent in English.

You shouldnt be surprised because Philippines development that is to come and in progress right now is going to make bangkok seem like squat, and you shouldnt be surprised at how Thailand is so "progressed" it should actually be much more progressed than that for being virtually uninterrupted by war, natural disasters, colonization, and the overhyped tourism flood they have gotten for years, the sex industry there has benefited them well, but Philippines is much more impressive and much more of a success story than Thailand ever will be, they should be thanking Philippines for blocking all of those Typhoons as they ride the success train of Singapore and Malaysia also all the Chinese and Russian also Indian money there as Philippines has virtually done all it has by itself. There is no reason to convince your wife to move to Thailand as Philippines will make Thailand look stupid in comparison once all of those in progress developments are complete.

I want to go to Thailand I’m moving to the Philippines in August and my fiancé is there a want to take her to Thailand? How long of a visa can you get when you first get there do you get 30 days or 60 days?

@@marcrichard7251 - As an American citizen, you can enter Thailand on a Visa Exemption which means you can stay up to 30 days with just only your passport. If you want to stay longer, you can apply for a visa extension for another 30 days while you're in Thailand. Filipinos can also enter Thailand under the Visa Exemption program for up to 30 days. Thailand and the Philippines have an agreement to allow their citizens to enter their respective countries without a Visa for up to 30 days.

Nice. The positive thing that I always have wondered about the immigration when they finally would scrap. Arrival/departure card is finally scrapped. I arrived january 7 2023. Even Vietnam scrapped it many years ago. So nice not having to fill that in anymore after a tiring flight. I didn't know about the boarding card but I got through like you with the one on the phone. By the way I got my diagnosis now, finally.. No celiac disease. Tropical sprue which is something that I have suspected a long time. Exists in tropical areas, probably not in Thailand, but in the Philippines for sure. Gotten better after fixed the vitamin defiencies and decided to wait with antibiotic treatment until after the summer.

11:00 The Ambassador is not a bad tourist hotel. The area that you are showing while you're talking about this (Erawan) you'll struggle to find a hotel under $300/night

Aloha, Dr Laway, nice!!! and cheap!!! place to stay at in Bangkok, Thailand. We will be retiring and going back to the Philippines soon and we'll be checking out other Southeast Asian countries, once we're settled in the Philippines. Thanks for the travel info. That is correct about the boarding pass! I was in Thailand last April, and the immigration officer did ask me to see my boarding pass. Fortunately, I had my boarding pass inside my passport! I did think it was odd that the officer ask to see it. I thought he was going to ask to see my return ticket which I had on my mobile phone.

I had been pretty set on Philippines, but now I'm maybe 60/40 Philippines/Thailand. The Hua Hin area is REALLY moving up on my potentials list.

@grumpyolddude439 - Thailand totally beats the Philippines for retirement! 1. Food is tastier 2. Cost of living is the same or lower 3. Bangkok is more developed 4. Crime is much lower than in the Philippines.

I dont even know how to say that so guaranteed, from the sound of what I have heard, I am sure Thailand food is heavily overrated, Bangkok is more developed as of now, maybe, but the development in Manila metro alone is more than all of Thailand put together, there will be nothing in Thailand as advanced as the cities they are building on Manila Bay, and BGC already. And crime is lower than Philippines? How so, the tourist safety zones make you think that, but I would go outside of tourist zones in Philippines 10 times out of 10 over Thailand, I wouldnt dare go out to that place outside of the comfort of tourist havens.
