So the gist is that these Cyphers and other diss like songs by BTS where they mention haters are those (specifically underground rappers) that trash talked them saying idol rappers like them aren't real rappers or artists since they're idols. RM started rapping at like age twelve, if I remember correctly. He started writing poems and then lyrics and became involved with the Korean underground scene. Suga liked composing songs and played piano, he started writing lyrics and songs from a young age. J-hope was an underground dancer and only started rapping when he joined bts around 2011/2, so when he was 16/17. RM’s word play comes to an incredible standard in Ddaeng, but it’s hard to understand for non-Korean speaking people. The live performance for Ddaeng is also amazing. Outro: Tear also has amazing wordplay, but it’s even better when you read the lyrics, cuz this one hits you.

Hands down, cypher 2 is my favorite. I understand why people like 4 the most, bc its definitely them at the height of their rap game, but this one is so grungy and hard hitting and has so many "I need to recover from that line" moments. Also, Ddaeng is considered by some to be the unofficial 5th cypher. You'll need to watch the "explained by a korean" video too, tho, if you react to it, bc it's full of puns and sarcasm that just don't translate.

Cypher 2 is my fave because it has a specific target (not that I encourage hating on others). This cypher was written in retaliation to some comments for another Korean rapper who pretty much called Suga and RM sellouts, and that by being Kpop idols they are choosing to 'dress up like girls' etc. This was done to their face during an interview. That's why JHope to took the chorus and let RM & Suga go wild~~ One of the lines in Suga's rap mentions about "going home to Hawaii". This is the biggest hint - the line is a famous quote from a Korean movie and the Korean rapper that dissed them was originally from Hawaii. Cypher 3 & 4 are great, but this will always be my favourite because I was soooo pissed off initially when I watched that interview. This Cypher made me feel vindicated~~~!!!
