Nice movie. Acting was pretty good. A couple of old actors I remembered from many other shows. Fast paced and kept my interest. Great old cars to see, had style back them. Nice to see some nice suits and skirts! Watching this was a lot better than watching almost any show on the regular TV except old, old shows. Thanks for the upload! 🙏

These old movies certainly had an abundance of character actors who (in their offbeat way) somehow actually enhanced the believability of the story, perhaps through their often comic display of human foibles as evidenced here by the photographer and the small-town sheriff -- often quite memorable if only momentarily.

This is a real kool flick of its genre-crime film with light comedy. Conrad Nagel is one of my favorite early film stars. He was one of MGM's top stars during the 1920s, co-starring with Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford and Norma Shearer. I believe he also hosted the very first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929.

This idea Hollywood uses for "Comedy Relief" is understandable during time of war - but this is 1937. So I'm assuming it has to do with the Great Depression. The public was just beginning to get over soup lines and dust bowls of the Midwest. Otherwise, this Comedy Relief is enough to ruin a picture.

You've not paid much attention to films. Comedy was the money maker for the entire silent era and the comedic bungler was in 90% of films thru the 1930s.

I never get tired of complaining about Vince Barnett appearing in a movie. I've seen him in 'The 9th Guest', 'Death Kiss', 'Sinful Cargo', this film, and some others, and he's spoiled every single one of them. Somebody like Frank Jenks, for example, would have been far better as the comic relief, and then only if such a character was essential to the plot.

Excellent production values. Actors did their personas. My estimation is that Frank Milan (Jerry Turner) was the premier actor here. Nagel and Hunt plod along. They're tired of each other. The plot is vapid but the pace is trying to speed it up, but the sequence of scenes slows the pace. As usual, Nagel and Hunt have a "comic" bumpkin to amuse the audience. This is due to the script writers and contract players...doing the producer and director's lower estimation of the American consumer's patience/intelligence.

Interesting/informative/entertaining. Enjoyed viewing the automobiles/phones/lighting/night club set up/jailer feeding inmates of that era. Realistically portrayed citizens/criminals/law enforcement officials. I venture to guess all the players have joined the dear dead departed club😇-???🤔. A relaxing Saturday evening movie-!!!🤗.

Excellent production values. Actors did their personas, but my estimation is Frank Milan (Jerry Turner( was the premier actor here. Anyone note the Lucky Strike cigarette packages were green? Lucky Strikes had to drop the green dye as the government needed it for something in WWII. Their motto became "Lucky Strikes went to war." Afterwards their packages were white for decades. I know, I use to steal cigarettes from my Father's packages. As usual, there is the "comic" actor for Hunt to throw insults at. The plot is tired, but the dialogue is succinct. The film was well made.

I love old movies, but that wasn't one of them. The title makes it sound like an interesting film about a bank heist.... instead it's a light hearted / semi-comedy detective show where nothing interesting happens. I give it 0 stars. Still, thanks for the upload and keep 'em coming. They can't all be this bad.

Love the old crime gangster movies but they all have something in common. Musical numbers and comedy. Sometimes too much of both. I want to see fast talking crooked mouth gangsters and wiseguy flat foots and coppers. Not singing and slapstick! Luckily this one didn't have some dame singing every 10 minutes.

Did Conrad Nagel wear a hairpiece or a full toupee? Look at the close-ups in this and other films and you can see a definite line around the top of his forehead. That could mean a toupee or perhaps just heavy make-up.
@nomadpi1
@nomadpi1 5 ай бұрын
Start looking at the sideburns. The toupees seldom cover the whole sideburn.

If you get past the initial 7 minutes of completely poorly written, nonsensical and inane dialog and plot direction, you're better than me. Plus, there's nothing like credit repetition in the initial titles. There's no disguising the fact that no one gave a damn about this film.
