I like how Shunsui's bankai has an environmental effect like Yamamoto's bankai, Yamamoto's bankai makes everyone feel like they're standing on the sun while Shunsui's gives everyone the chills.

Syncing the start of his bankai to the beginning of b14 was a genius move, the drum intro really makes it sound like the lights are being flipped off to start a play. It's a fitting touch and I hope they do the same when they reach this point in the anime.

Shunsui’s bankai isn’t more powerful than Yamamoto’s Zanka no Tachi Affected the entire soul society which is infinite and would eventually kill everyone just by the 1st stage of his bankai which is East just by having it activated alone was putting soul society at risk of being destroyed Shunsui’s bankai just affects a portion and long mile radius of soul society it’s only lethal to people that’s in that radius not the entire soul society like Yamamoto’s

For those who don't understand how his bankai works : (SPOILER) His bankai is a reality-bending power, that forces everyone in the area of effect to take part in a theater play. The nature of the play, and the effect on the participants is unpredictable. It is also undetermined if Shunsui even has control on the play being chosen for the technique. It's highly possible that the Zanpakuto itself choses the play being performed, which is why Shunsui himself suggest that he might not survive using his own technique. It's also highly possible that the play will always be a tragedy that results in the death of at least one of the participants, including Shunsui and his allies, because despite everything, it's still a technique meant for combat. Considering the earlier chapters, it is also highly probable that Ukitake got caught in Shinsui's bankai in the past.

Accoedingly The theatre has a "4-act play" forced on a specific radius disregarding enemy or ally. A play about a person without nothing to lose living in regret. -First Act: Involves Sharing of Injuries between the user and 'actors'. Non lethal. -Second Act: Skin starts to bubble on 'actor' and popping these bubbles results in immense blood loss. Non lethal. -Third Act. The 'actor' is induced in a drowning state and lose all ability to wield weapons. Non lethal. -Final act: Beheading. Guaranteed Instant Kill. Karamatsu Shinju is the ability to make child games real and stories real depending on the user's taste. In a sense it is the ability to wield imagination, but the drawback is the user is also affected by the rules or roles in the story.

Its simple and complex at the same time i will try my best to explain. Spoiler His bankai is divided into 4 acts Act 1: The wounds of shunsui and his opponent is shared Act 2: Shunsui's opponent gets black spots on their body when the opponent regrets hurting shunsui Act 3: Shunsui and his opponent is engulfed with giant pool of water and the one with higher spiritual pressure survives Act 4: I dont really know about this one but i assume this act gives a free one shot hit to his opponent If u didn't get it MrTommo2304 has made a video in which he explains his bankai and the story behing it

the girl he summons plays theaters, each one is a different play aka different decider = an attack, she gets to choose whom to attack and what play will she do not shunsui's, so that's why none of the allies should be closer in the range of the bankai, cuz she might just ataacks them due her range or whatever she thinks of, even if she attacks the enemy the attack might cover the entire range and everyone would get hurt .. its so dark and powerful that could insta kill with a slash of the theater play she does .. this is the simple way to explain it tho its little more complex and have lots of depth and lore but u can just think of its like that ..
