The grid heater blowing up my engine is why I wanted to get rid of it. I went with the Banks because it did that, bigger air horn and the integrated glow plug. I only found one other option for heating up the air and it was a space with a threaded hole for a glow plug.

@@chiefyoung I had that happen to my 2017...after some great dissatisfaction on my part (bitching to the dealership) they "only" charged me $2800 but said it would take 2 days to get the engine, 2 days to install it....42 days later I get my truck back. The rental car cost me $4000. so total was $6800. So far I had the turbo go out twice, the turbo actuator once and a multitude of other engine issues....Do you think I got a lemon?...lol Oh they quoted me $32,000 for a new (remanufactured) engine. When I was flipping through the paper work, when picking up my truck, I saw an email from the Ram representative to the dealer on the price..$17,500 for the engine I took a picture because they wouldn't let me have the paperwork...Then they wanted me to delete the picture...I did but recovered it as soon as I left.....I will never buy anything from that dealership again ( I have bought 2 new Rams in the past).....Won't name the dealership but it was somewhere between Roseville and Grass Valley. Soooo long story short...Once the warranty is up on this engine I will be putting in the Banks.....You can bank on that!

My reason for this install was solely to get rid of the grid heater but I still wanted a way to heat the incoming air for cold season starts. The Banks kit was the only kit I could find with that option.

CARB has no effect on me since I don’t live in CA. Maui Brewing has some good beers, I prefer the Coconut Hiwa.

That’s awesome. Hopefully your install went better than mine and didn’t break your rail sensor. The delete kit came from Flashark.

The plates are on top of the exhaust manifold, I’m not sure which, they’re all pretty basic designs. To do the EGR delete you do have to do a tune.

3” lift, black wheeled and bedliner for sure. Looking into the Bank Cold Air Intake.

Nothing special, other than a torque wrench. It was a lot easier than I thought, I had the kit over a month before putting it on.

I haven’t noticed any issues with boost at all. Made it sound deeper and throatier too.

Brought it with. Bought it new in VA while in WOBC.

Depends on your skill level and tools you have available. It took me total about 5hrs of actual wrench turning.

No codes. It’s setup as an upgrade. A lot easier to install than expected too. Just be careful of the fuel rail pressure sensor on the back when you’re taking it apart.

No tune required for it. For the install the only change electronically is the hot wire from the grid heater to the glow plug.

I did it as an investment to prevent the grid heater bolt from dropping into the cylinders. I haven’t any difference in power but the sound is a bit deeper, more throaty. You can get away with only replacing the grid heater plate but I wanted to make sure I still had a heat source for those cooler days.

I ordered my kit today. I swear I felt the slightest movement on the grid heater wire. Can't wait till it has an "18" and is in the mail box.

There are many other options but not sure if they have the glowplug to replace the grid heater.

I’m just under 200k. That’s why when I learned about the grid heater issue I quickly updated it.

@@chiefyoung my 2010 2500 at 90k was pretty dirty almost no room for air. So I deleted it then. My 2020 3500 has 51k on it now I am thinking of doing the monster ram to delete the grid heater

That’s why I did it. The grid heater bolt is no joke and didn’t want it to destroy my engine.

Only issue was when I broke the fuel rail pressure sensor. Other than that it’s a very straight forward process and only took a few hours. Definitely cleans up the engine bay too.

I currently live on an island so mileage is skewed and no real option to see a power change but it did change the sound a little. I’m sure it did gain power since the new horn is bigger and flows much better.

Honestly wasn’t bad at all. Only sucked breaking that pressure sensor and having to wait a week for it to arrive.

The electronic delete happened a month after I bought the truck. I just did the physical delete while I was under the hood doing the ram air kit.

I honestly don’t know. You would need to ask Banks. I’m way out of warranty and wanted to make sure the grid heater wasn’t going to cause me issues.

The kit only came with the intake horn and plate.

Did it come with the egr delete caps for both sides? You said you didn't have to tune it after the delete? Also does it still use the DEF correctly without a tune or is that deleted? I'm looking to buy a 2023 and do the same stuff. Thanks in advance

@@tango2947 Just adding the Banks Ran Air kit does not require programming. If you plan to delete any part of your emissions you will need to do some programming.

I have several toolboxes, unsure which one you’re referring to.

It was $1k for the kit. You can but just the plate that gets rid of the grid heater but you won’t have a way to heat your incoming air on start up if you don’t get the kit.
