In This episode today we continue to explore and enjoy our brilliant mod community by adding three mods into a battle with Realistic Battle Mod and have a gigantic slugfest against more than Two thousand Fierce Sturgians.
With this updated Immersive Battlefield mod, the addition of 'Less Damage' mod, 'Battle Size' mod that increases the total number of troops on the field and Realistic battle mod, you get a thundering clash of arms that LOOKS and FEELS like a real medieval battle, complete with war horns, troops roaring and gigantic infantry clashes. Is this combination of mods the BEST way to play big battles in Bannerlord? Watch and see...
What are YOUR mods that you add to battles to make them better? I'd love to hear your opinions here too.
Here are the new mods added to this battle video as well as the ones below that I normally use:
Battle Size Unlocker(up to 2,000 troops on the field!): www.nexusmods.com/mountandbla...
Immersive Battlefields:

Less Damage Mod(from 1/2 to 1/10th!):

Realistic Battle Mod:

Our entire channel is dedicated to helping players improve their field command and if that's your desire, or just want to see huge, dramatic battles, you've come to the right place.
Please comment, like and subscribe if you're interested in more of my ultra-late-game campaign, that may end up ending in utter despair, but that's the challenge of it. Any challenge where success is assured is no challenge at all.
My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.
Join me on this adventure if you like huge battles, the use of advanced tactical maneuvers and intense Bannerlord gameplay, and subscribe to my channel if you want to follow along. This campaign is very lightly modded:
I use four mods:
Lord Retinue Uptier(Makes the enemy forces stronger, much less peasants and lower ranked troops)
www.nexusmods.com/mountandbla...
Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods.com/mountandbla...
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...
www.nexusmods.com/mountandbla...
I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:
steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
Much of the music and inspiration for this and other videos in the channel are inspired by Epic History TV - probably THE best channel on youtube(and the internet for that matter) covering the Napoleonic wars. With amazing work Epic History TV takes you through the dramatic and incredibly story of Napoleon covering all of his most famous battles. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Love the new mods and all the battle noise, it really adds to the epic feel! Your system must be very strong to handle all that in 4K!

Me too - love the roaring troops, very cool ambience! It's a system from Costco and about $1,800, so not super-high end but I realize that's expensive to a lot of people. It does an amazing job with Bannerlord...

You see in sturgia they start taking axe swings in the back from a young age to build up a resistance to it.

I can't play Bannerlord with RBM. I agree the enemy is too vulnerable when retreating to reform. There is a mod that fixes that. It makes the enemy turn and fight you and if multiple enemy's are near each other they will team up to help each other. I think its called turn and fight or defend yourself. Sorry I can't recall my memory is damaged from PTSD.

I have found "defend yourself" and will see how it works with RBM - thank you! (and thank you for your service, it sounds like you really made sacrifices for your country, my hats off to you).

@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Thank you, and Thank you for your service. I think perhaps we have both had our share of having people die under our care. But none of it compares to what our combat vets have seen and done. I like to separate my PTSD from theirs. Feels too much like stolen valor if I do not point out I did not serve in combat.

I noticed on some of the lower-damage swings that the damage feed says something like "Handle Hit" or "Pommel Hit", I'm guessing it's tracking where the axe head would be in the swing and factoring that into the damage.

Indeed, which IS realistic, hard to argue with it, it just feels so foreign and weak compared to 330 athletics/330 two-handed with a super-fast axe in vanilla bannerlord. I suppose it would be like using steroids your whole life then working out for two years without them...

I think its odd that RBM nerfs archers so heavily, I mean historically the English longbow was dominant in western Europe for a long time, and the Mongols controlled the largest land empire in history with primarily horse archers. I know environment plays into that a lot but it still seems like archers would be incredibly effective against shock infantry, light infantry, and crossbows should be able to mess up heavy cavalry and punch through heavy armor. So I think the idea of RBM making the game a one size fits all with cavalry is kinda disappointing, because yes cavalry was dominant for much of history but it wasn't unstoppable and there were ways to counter it with infantry and archers. Now RBM may not actually do that, I have only played with it a little and have not fully explored all the options and customization, just based on the comentary in this video about archers and cav and how RBM effects them.

It doesn't make cavalry the only unit to have in the battle, but cavalry has a MASSIVE upgrade in RBM, as do infantry, and archers, especially if you use the full settings, are pretty bad....

@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions got it, yeah honestly I think I’ll take balance over realism, not that the hyper realistic thing isn’t fun sometimes but honestly I like the balance of the game in vanilla, the AI upgrades would be nice though, aside from constant vulnerable regroups.

@@Valren37 I agree completely. Rock paper scissors is much better than a dominate unit/unbalanced game.

how many hours do u have in bannerlord? Great video.
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions 3 ай бұрын
Thank you sir! I have played A LOT but it's hard to trust the steam statistics. It say 6,000 plus hours, but I think it counts the hours you've "played" even if the computer is on and the entry screen is open(with the flaming background and guy with the axe). I would safely say I have 1,500 hours of actual play, about 90% of that in one incredibly long, somewhat contrived campaign.

Do you play with the armor changes where cutting is almost useless or have you turned that off?
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure that is ON because my inventory gets whacky when I use the RBM module, so it's making that change for me. Certainly changes things dramatically for sword users attacking strong armor...

Have you tried any of the Total War games?
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions 3 ай бұрын
Yes, and when I was younger and played more regularly, I played the crap out of them. Rome TW, maybe a few more versions though admittedly it's been 15 years probably since I have played any of them. I think these two games are very similar and much that I learned then can be put to use in Bannerlord, just perhaps with more precision. I only restarted playing more regularly at work a few years ago. I took a pretty long break from gaming all together but I remember competing nationally in Age of Empires, coordinating large attacks in Dark Age of Camelot and fooling around a bit with other strat games. Are they worth re-exploring now? (if I ever get the time?)

Mod author should tweak AI to do fighting retreats and/or provide the option to turn off the reforming if that isn't there already.
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions 3 ай бұрын
Agreed wholeheartedly. I think also they SHOULDN'T retreat at all if they have infantry support. Basically a suicide kamikaze for the infantry, then archer support, as their infantry is near annihilation, then quick archer retreat. Ideally then add in a mad-rush cavalry charge by reinforcements and you'd have an absolutely solid AI build that is hard to counter.
