Back when I was out of high school , working full time and had a one bedroom apartment I lived on Banquet ( or Swanson) frozen pot pies. Back then you could get 5 for a 1.00 on sale. I would buy a small chest freezer full. Took like 40 minutes to cook them in a oven. I usually cooked 3 or 4 at a time, ate two and saved one or two for later. I got soooo sick of eating them I havent had a pot pie in like 30+ years lol

3 or 4 at a time why not only 1 🤮
@troynov19652 жыл бұрын
@@Leatherface1973. well at 40 minutes to bake it was best to cook a few at a time and just reheat them when you wanted another. Plus its more efficient on the electric bill. This was before you could cook a pot pie in the micro wave.

I remember my mom buying these as an occasional treat. The mashed potatoes were unusually light in texture and quite salted, as was the meat portion. I imagine all that foil is still in a landfill, hoping to decompose one day.

Back when frozen dinners still used foil covers and the meal was in a foil tray ❤️

In 1976 all of the men looked like that. I don't know who decided big heads of permed hair looked good on men. Ridiculous. I remember my older brother got a perm, and had a huge bush of hair. Those were the days.
@msr11168 ай бұрын
The fuzzy perm might have been a failed attempt at copying the spherical Afro hair so prevalent among African-Americans in the 1970s. Unless it was natural it often looked weird.

The quality of the fried chicken went down hill in the early 2000's.

During 1982 Le Menu took frozen TV dinners to a whole NEW LEVEL, as there were all Shockingly delicious. WAY Better than Swanson's or Banquet.

My brother and sis in law got the first one I ever saw or used back in the very early 80s. It was a Magic Chef ( they got it from Heilig Meyers) and was huge you could stick a turkey in it. It was expensive but very well made. They used it well over 30 years

When I was around 8, 1982, I begged my mom for some of these. I thought they looked amazing and wanted to have them for a after school meal. She finally caved in and got me 2 of them, but told me I was not gonna like it. I got home from school one day and popped one in the oven. I felt so grown up, cooking my own meal lol. I ate some of it….and it was disgusting. It tasted like medicine and I was so grossed out. The other stayed in the freezer for about a year and she finally threw it away.

Same thing happened to me! Ha! I thought it was going to be so good and I was so proud of myself using the microwave for something other than popcorn.

How many people remember the boxes had pictures of housewife looking ladies on the reverse side with the heating instructions?

Back in the 1960s and '70s, the Banquet brand were the cheapest and worst frozen dinners. They still are.

Wait, can you repeat that? You remember reading a product label in 1976? That was 47 years ago. You specifically remember reading a food label? Seems far fetched.

@@BillboardPenguin I used to like the turkey with gravy boil in pan packs, tried one about 30 years later and got sick from eating it, never bought that product again.
