Install of the ARB Old Man Emu 2.5” Heavy Load lift kit is finished! In this video we will discuss the springs, give our review and show you how we installed it…sorta. Full disclaimer: this is NOT a complete install guide but we did do our best to show how we installed some of the more confusing parts of the lift kit. Please make sure to refer to your vehicle’s user manual or at the ARB website for full instructions or have the lift professionally installed.

I was considering this lift for my Tacoma but I don't plan on throwing anymore weight on the back, other than my two dirt bikes on the weekends. Now that I watched this video, I'm thinking that I don't need the heavy duty it. Thank you guys for all the great info.

Can't go wrong with OME. I'm glad I listened to my friends cuz it rides great. But just like any other lift, you'll have to tackle that geometry problem so either get OME full kit or piece meal it together. As of now I have the OME springs and shocks and I put on JKS disconnects to give sway bar the correct height and I just ordered the JKS correction brackets to fix pinion and caster angles.

IF castor is out when you do your alignment, consider geometry correction brackets from AEV. Also waiting to tighten bolts to spec after jeep off jacks; will prevent binding of rubber bushings and other parts. I would not add heavy stuff just to lower height of lift or your gas mileage will suffer or will need to re-gear. looks great!

Hi. After seeing your video, I am considering purchasing this omejk4dhks kit. However, I studied and noticed that you are updating your rear coil spring 2620. So I decided to buy the kit as an individual piece. But there, where I doubt and hope you can help. The shocks are available in the model 60066 & 60067 (L) version. Should I use this version (L) or not? thanks a lot .
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 2 жыл бұрын
I had to upgrade only the rear springs. The shocks are the original ones that came with the first kit. Not sure if they're the L version or not. You might want to hit them up and find out. I'm thinking MAYBE the L stands for "long"? Like if you have a lift higher than 3"? Again I'm not sure but mine was not the L.

@BaptismOverland

I haven't yet but you reminded me I need to. It hasn't been a big deal as the speedometer is only off about 1 mph. The lift is minimal and so is the increase in tire size so I haven't really lost power either. Mpg loss is also minimal

Just saw this video. After two yours how do you still like the emu lift kit? Still happy with the 33’s? Knowing what you know now what other parts would you have gotten with the lift kit?
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 9 ай бұрын
Phew that'll take some explanation lol 1) Absolutely still love the lift! I had to move up to heavier load springs on the back fr OME after I put on the tent and such. There's a video for that 2) Still love 33s although I'm super tempted to go to 315s (slightly bigger than 33s but smaller than 35s). But to do so I'm gonna need gearing. Maybe in the next year I'll do that. 3) if I had the funding then I woulda just gotten their full kit so I didn't have to piece meal parts like contrail arm brackets and such 4) I might switch out my tires. Love the look of steelies but they're starting to rust and also heavy af. Maybe go with alloy when I upgrade the tire size also

@@axceusbays3743 Dude...omg...my jeep was empty load when this was installed and it rode like a DREAM! I may have actually convinced my friend who's a die hard Teraflex guy to get the OME instead. It's so smooth and i realize now why they are who they are. That being said, you'll get a vibration ride if you don't correct your geometry. Without the correction on the arms, you're transferring all that lift to the body of the vehicle rather than to the shocks and springs who are supposed to do the work. So make sure you correct the arms so you can see the real benefit of this suspension. It was well worth the buy.

@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 2 жыл бұрын
Drive is great! BUT for awhile I was getting a ton of vibrations when I hit 70mph and higher. For the life of me couldn't figure it out. So I thought maybe it's the geometry and did everything I could to fix it. Still happened. Then one day I took it to discount tire and had them rebalance the wheels and tires and it's been smooth since. Apparently, with STEEL tires, you have to balance them differently than alloy. So it wasn't even the lift at ALL.

2" but YES. It'll give you a higher lift because they're heavy duty. Once you add in the weight of your stuff then it'll drop to the appropriate 2.25". But if you don't plan to add weight like RTT and heavy bumpers don't go with the HD
@BaptismOverland

When I first installed it I got 3.5!! Insane. But then once the front bumper and roof rack and cargo came on it dropped. So my suggestion is get the lift but before you do any geometry corrections get the weight on already so you'll know where you are and then adjust accordingly
