This is a quick edit of my most recent float. Baptist Camp to Akers Ferry. My watch clocked it at around 14 miles. Baptist Camp is mile marker 0.0. We took out at Akers Ferry, mile marker 15.7.
16:00 Welch Spring
The final 2 miles is by far the best. You get to visit Welch Spring. The spring flows from the base of a wooded dolomite hill near the historic Welch Hospital, and then flows to the river over a rock impoundment. Thomas Welch homesteaded Welch Spring, in 1855, and a gristmill was run on the spring-branch until nearly 50 years after the Civil War.
This upper portion of the Current is very secluded. I highly recommend this if you are looking to get some solitude in nature.

Well i noticed that you brought a fishing pole but never used it. Shame I've caught many trout on that stretch that were over 20 inches lots of fun. One of my favorite rivers and its in my backyard.

We kayaked Baptist to Two Rivers about the same time you all did this. It's a great float. We did drag a bunch from Baptist to Cedar Grove due to the water level. It is definitely a bit of a challenge in that section. It is difficult to find a campsite before Cedar Grove also. Good video

Camp the gravel bar at lower Parkers. It's probably the best option.

Love this river, just not the over crowding and boat jams. That sign at Welsh Spring used to not be there last I was on the river. I used to run that lil rapid over and over

It is unfortunate how busy it's become over the years. Lots of partying. Mid week in the summer and spring floats tend to be less busy. The music is the worst haha. Beautiful river tho!

Under Welch Hospital, when the water is low, they have something like jail bars to let the water out and not to let anyone in. And then down on the river is Akers Ferry. A cable drawn ferry boat for cars. Are you going to go see the eclipse. Totality. Fire Wheel Burning in the air. All family are deadheads 😅

I noticed those bars when I was there last summer! The ferry is cool. I wonder how long it hasn't been in operation. I actually followed the gps to the opposite side of the ferry and had to just cross on foot. HAHA will teach me to not trust google. I am planning on attending a climbing festival in Arkansas for the eclipse! Should be a fun time (~);}

Man that looks like a nice river to do some kayak camping on. I like you had a nice time out there. Weather looks very nice & all. I have a question how did you like wearing your Chaco sandals while kayaking? I am thinking about getting me a pair of these sandals because they make them in big sizes & In width. I have big very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 sz15 6E wide with very chubby fat wide toes that are Evenly straight across making my foot very very Extremely wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. It's a very very extremely wide foot i have. I have to kayak barefooted 👣 because my foot outgrow shoes , socks , & boots when I was young & Flip flops 🩴 is the only footwear that will barely and I mean barely fit on my foot Because my toes are wider than the flip flops 🩴 straps. So i am thinking about getting these Sandals because it very very hard when I got to walk around in the water barefooted 👣 when you when I am a chubby fat dude. This is why I'm asking you. This was a good video man thanks you for sharing it. I Definitely want to try this river out with my family that lives there.

i really like my chacos for river kayaking. the straps hold them to my feet in strong currents. I used to have a pair with the toe strap. i did NOT like that version. The chacos without the toe strap are the way to go. they only sell half sizes so my first pair where 11's they were to big so i had to go with size 10 for the second pair. i like them being a little small as opposed to too big. I have a fairly narrow foot so i dont think i can offer much help on the width part. for lake trips i just wear crocs. much more comfortable and easier to slid on and off. for river stuff i like having the straps. i hope this helps some. thanks for watching!!

@colby_rogers Thanks you so much it really help me out. I have heard some bad things about the toes loops straps & this is one reason why I am asking you about your Chaco's sandals. Having a XXL foot that is 6 1/2 inches wide is very hard to find footwear for. I like crocs but I Having a very very very hard time trying to find a pair for me cuz I went to do the same thing that you are doing & leave my flip flops 🩴 for my personal use. I wish my feet 🦶 was narrow instead of being extremely wide. Thanks you for sharing this information with me.
