Explore the Beauty and Adventure of the Niangua River!
The Niangua River is renowned for its breathtaking bluffs, thrilling technical sections, and excellent fishing opportunities. While it tends to get crowded with party-goers during the summer, the offseason unveils its true potential for adventure. We went kayak camping for 3 days from Bennett Spring to Leadmine boat ramp.
Sometimes, revisiting a familiar river can rekindle memories and evoke past experiences. However, our recent float down the Niangua felt refreshingly new and novel, as if it was an adventure meant just for us.
Join us on a unique journey to experience the Niangua like few ever have - as we've never seen it before, on a perfect 3-day trip into the Ozark paradise.
Elea and I ride in NuCanoe kayaks, the Flint and Pursuit. Andrew was in an Eddyline Caribbean.
Unfortunately, the Niangua has gained a reputation for attracting large crowds of partiers, especially near Bennett Spring, where raft rental services drop off busloads of people. But if you plan your visit during the week or after Labor Day, you may discover the river all to yourself.
While our initial day on the water was leisurely, it didn't prepare us for what lay ahead. By Day three, we encountered technical Class II rapids every half hour, which may sound manageable until you factor in a toddler, a dog, and three days' worth of feasts.
Join us on this incredible Niangua River adventure - subscribe, like, and hit the notification bell to stay updated on our upcoming videos!

I enjoyed the high quality video! I have been canoe camping the Niangua river and many others for over 30 years. I could recognize almost every filming location. I think I even talked to you at the takeout where I was camping. If you do this outdoor Dutch oven cooking often, I would buy a 'camping style' oven (with 3 legs on the bottom and a raised edge on the lid). The raised edge will help keep the coals on top of the lid.

You have no idea how this remarkable video has impacted me. I have fished every single inch of Bennet Springs, Montauk, and the Meramec. An old friend of mine way back when taught me how to use a flyrod using dry flies and i didn't care for it, but I took it 2 steps further and bought a 9ft, flyrod with sinking line with my own home made wooly buggers. I killed the trout on this set up and even had people come up to me asking what I'm using. I show them and they are always impressed. I know all too well how crowded Bennett Springs can get and the partiers are a complete nuisance. I'm so glad that you made this video, your little bro is making memories and you are teaching him well. Mom with the chocolate lab doing a great job of keeping it all together. You should win an award of some kind for your cinimatography. I'm disabled now and can't fish like I used to, my diabetes has control of my legs and won't let me fish anymore. It's videos like these that let me relive the days gone by. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking me along on your adventures. Please keep doing what you are doing, and just know that many people like me Really Do Appreciate you!

My gold standard for Missouri streams are the Current River and Jack's fork, and while those are still my 2 favorite, I'd probably put the Niangua 3rd of the Missouri streams I've floated (which includes Courtious and Huzzah Creek, the Elk, and the Meremac, and of course the Current and Jack's). I always heard the Niangua was just a dirty party river, but that was wrong. Yes it's a party river in the summer, but it's definitely not dirty. A few years ago my dad and I decided to give it a try and it turned out to be very nice surprise. We stay near Bennett Spring every year now in either late September or early October, and I just love the section between NRO (Outfitter) and Barclay Conservation area. I still think the Current and Jacks have better bluffs but the fishing and water clarity here are just as good, and the fishing might actually be better to be honest. I really would like to go further downstream and see the rest someday, I hear Prosperine to Lead Mine, and berry Bluff are nice.
@OzarkMediaCo
@OzarkMediaCo 9 ай бұрын
I think the liveries know better than to completely trash the place because DNR would probably step in. I think the current river has better camping and the 11 point has better kayaking.

The river is private, so with a few exceptions, such as the conservation areas, the properties on either side are a no go. It is, obviously, navigable however, so yes; gravel bars below the inundation line bearing no permanent vegetation is g2g. There's plenty of it.
