It's our last day onboard Holland America's Volendam and we are in Bar Harbor, Maine. Join us as we head to Bar Harbor to explore after we clear American customs. We head back to the ship for one last Dive-In burger, one last hot tub and end the cruise with some specialty dining at the Pinnacle Grill.

Great video. I enjoyed one of 2 cruises on the Veendam (even smaller) that mirrored yours. We loved it and HAL. I also love that you don't ignore $ issues when cruising. Value matters and most vloggers ignore this.

Glad you enjoyed it! We cruise as frequently as our budget allows therefore it make sense to us to share the what the cost are along the journey. We are constantly looking for the cruise deal that aligns with where and what we want to do.

I love watching your vlogs. They are always informative and fun. We will be on a NE/Canada cruise next month so it was great learning about some of the ports we will be visiting. Playing Journey to the Secret Word is fun even if I don't win. I do tend to have to watch each vlog more than once as I get engrossed in what you are doing and miss the letter.

I did the same cruise in May 2024 and June 2019 in the reverse order. Visiting Acadia National Park was the highlight of my cruise port stops. I rented a Pedego electric bicycle both times. The first time I rode the park loop road and this trip rode on the carriage roads. It was amazing biking by the ocean. I hope that you will get a chance to visit Acadia NP in the future.

Thanks for giving us a glimpse of Bar Harbor. We were supposed to stop there at the end of October on the Enchanted, but it got changed to Portland. Guess our ship is too big. One day, we hope to get on the Volendam.

We did the Oli's Trolley tour all around Acadia National Park. It was SO worth it!! Especially up to the top of Cadillac Mountain! What a view!

From the NCL Breakaway, we went on a small group bus tour up into Acadia Park and the fog lifted for us just in time for a view from the top, but the port was so crowded, we were late getting started and back again and sadly, had no time to walk around town before the last tender of the day. Will have to get there on a smaller ship some day soon! Really enjoyed this vlog series as it brought back memories of Quebec City and our cruise port stop in Halifax and Bar Harbor, not to mention the Pinnacle Grill clothesline bacon on the Rotterdam. Yum!

Bar Harbor is a nice place. It is also one of the places that are now placing restrictions on cruise ships both the size and number beginning next year. Bar Harbor is a nice town to walk through. Baa Haabor. Those are small ships that go up by where you live. My wife was interested once until she learned there was no casino onboard. Never been to that part of town. Ah, the L.L.Bean store. That Tavern must be new. Don't like the restaurants that cater to tourists. Went to Acadia Park once. You didn't seem to be on shore long. You should have walked more in town. Like to purchase Blueberry tea, and Blueberry jelly. They have a few ice cream places that make their own ice cream. I also like to purchase Made in Maine Mustard too. Guacamole is good. Don't think pudding goes with what you ate. What, no Hot Tub? Would prefer Prosecco. Ate at the Pinnacle Grill on the Veendam. The bread goes good with Olive Oil. My wife liked both desserts. Seems like you had a nice cruise on the Volendam. Already subscribed and did hit the like button.

We were supposed to stop at Bar Harbor on our cruise but for some reason we stopped at Portland. No biggie, it was a lovely town nonetheless!!

If you were on a ship with more than 1000 people then Bar Harbor wouldn’t allow you ship. That is why most ships are now going to Portland.

First, that Clothesline Bacon is amazing! I got one on our last cruise while my husband chose the wedge salad. One of the best pictures I took was of that bacon and my husband looking pretty sorrowful with his wedge salad.🤣 Second, we are off in October for a Canada/New England Cruisetour. We start in Boston, get off the ship in Quebec City then board a motor coach for five days stopping at 4 cities. We end up in Toronto. We enjoyed your videos as a bit of a prep. While it is a more expensive season, we don't get to see fall colors in San Diego. 😉

Loved these more than ever, as we returned a week ago from a cruise to Iceland on Fred Olsen Bolette which used to be HA Amsterdam , so seeing your cruise on an identical ship is strange but kind of cool too.

Baa Haa Baa is such a pretty little town. Happy to see you had lovely sunshine 🌞 🌞! Last time we were there it started out OK, but then poured rain, certainly put a damper on exploring. Loved the look of Mr Canuck's nachos-Yum! Your dinner in Pinnacle Grill had me drooling, all of Mrs Canuck's choices were spot on. We are impatiently waiting for November for our 14 day Zuiderdam cruise ending in Fort Lauderdale, where we will hop on the Sun Princess to experience her for 7 days! cheaper to rent the golf carts that you can drive from the port through Acadia Park and all through town. My sister and I did it for $120 for 4 hours

Congrats on the 10K subs! We have not sailed on the Volendam, but have on three other HAL ships. We have heard mixed reviews of it. How was the shape/experience of the ship?

We loved the size of the ship. The staff were wonderful. We felt that it was a wonderful cruise experience.

@@CruisingCanucksWe loved the Noordam and the small ship feel when we did our Alaska cruise. Our next is the Regent Seven Seas Grandeur with a Concierge suite and are really looking forward to it!

@@CruisingCanucks We are excited about the cruise. It will be our first experience on Regent and have heard great things about this luxury brand to include this fairly new ship. Our travel agent presented this one to us at a very deeply discounted price (even though it is still more than we normally pay) but thought it would be worth a try. Everything is included and all excursions as well, so I think it will be interesting to see if we want to keep pursuing these higher-end cruises when our agent gets the deals. I will keep you posted on our experience and wonder if you have had any experience with Regent.

Yes you can order two appetizers at the Pinnacle which is a change from last year when we were on the Koningsdam. We were surprised when we asked and the waiter said “of course”
