A lot of media is made to generate controversy because people eat chaos up no matter who they are or what they stand for. People are chaotic creatures and all though they may dream of a peaceful life they constantly seek out chaos and the macabre because its interesting. Perhaps even breaks the mundane of everyday life. The media understands this and takes advantage of it. The more outrage = the more clicks and attention. The more clicks and attention = more profit being generated. We live in a world ruled by money. It's not an issue that lies with just twitter but facebook, tumblr, 4-chan, FOX, CNN, NBC, AOL, Corporate and business media, etc.

It spans revisionist marxist ideologies to more philosophical thought doctrines that use marxism as inspiration but expand and alternit such as the Frankfurtian academia originating in the 50s, postmodernist advocacy of subjective truth, identitarian intersectionality with the goal of "equality for all yay!" It's not a "muh Jordan Peterson" thing, he uses much of this (somewhat lazily at times) as part of his lectures etc.
