Hi, i have been using the baratza esp for 2 months and encountered few pains. First issue, my grind setting for a 1:2 espresso is very inconsistent around 12-6, after added 2 additional shims, it was ok. The second issue, RETENTION, 18g of beans, i got like nearly 16g, prob due to clog, but after several cleaning attempt, still has retention ard 1 or 2g, could u let me know, did you experience this? If not imma sending back to the shop… thank you, great video!

Thank you for your comment! I haven't had that much retention, however do you happen to live in a humid environment? With humidity, coffee grounds tend to get stuck much easier inside the machine and you will have to grind coarser as you mentioned. For my espressos i've been around the 3-6 range depending on the freshness of my bean, but I normally use beans a week after its' roast. Dark roasts as well, lighter roasts usually require coarser. Older beans can give you some issues as well. You could try the single dosing kit that includes a bellows to help with the retention. I hope that helps!

Yes of course! I believe the first was number 4, the second 8 and the last one at 6.

Hello! I really like your video! I bought an encore esp recently but I found its grinding uniformity is bad when it goes to 30-40. I found that it produces lots of very coarse particles. I don't know if it's a common phenomenon or it's just the problem with my machine😭

Bro try 30-40 is designed for chemex,French press and aeropress for v60 try 20-25
