@@dominicpersaud1155 they already have a prime minister and she has complete control already over the police and parliament in Barbados. But how does she get more power? By putting herself in a position above all politics meaning she will never be voted out yet she will retain the powers she had as prime minister. Much like dictators do. The queen as head of state was symbolic. Barbados has been independent for decades and make there own laws and such. But let's see when this leader does become queen if she will be symbolic or will she keep a hold of power. People forget the prime minister advice for covid was it's in God's hands" And they have anti homosexuality laws. Keeping a leader indefinitely in power does usually not turn out great.

@@damian597 Barbados is going to have a ceremonial president(similar roles to the governor general) when we become a republic. The prime minister will still hold the ACTUAL POWER within the country.

It will only happen if it got 2/3 vote in parliament and approval in a referendum... but poll says a strong support in monarchy... so, just like in the past, the monarchy of Barbados will still exist

During this process, Barbados must align itself with one of the other powerful nations( US, China or Russia) for protection. When you remove one leader another one will occupy that space with or without your consent. Therefore, It’s better to select another country before removing your nation completely. Historically in a transition, fights occur within a nation for power like a civil war. Remember Rwanda! Always have a back up plan because if you are not allies with a powerful nation, no other nation is going to provide assistance for you. Barbados is small and no match for those who will descend on an unprotected vulnerable nation. Get protection as soon as possible before all control is loss!
