OK, it's taken me a little while to really get to grips with firing up the Kamado Joe and setting the temperatures but I finally feel I'm at a stage where I'm comfortable with the process and so, I thought I'd share it with you guys.
It's the one thing I struggled with at the start - mostly due to fear of overshooting my temps but over time you learn how to setup your fire and how the BBQ reacts to subtle changes
Hope the video helps you get there a little quicker than I did haha any questions, stick them in the comments section and I'll do my best to answer them!

My tip would be always light it earlier than you think you will need it, really takes the pressure off getting it to temp.

I'll second that one, you learn to love the process of getting it all setup so firing up early and taking your time is all part of it

Great video James. Have you considered getting an Ash Basket. It'll throw your vent settings out by making air flow better. For 200c my bottom vent is 1 finger width open and my top vent just past the first line. They also make clean out much easier you just raise it up and shake all the ash to the bottom in the Ash Catcher.

Thanks for the great video! You answered a few questions I had. I say ditto to GiuseppeM's comment "The challenge for me was always to figure out when the initial bad smoke smell was over, and it was time to put food in the grill." My first cook turned out excellent, so I guess I did it at the right time. But it would be nice to know the proper technique to know when.

"Scalding hot" is used in the USA, on occasion. Probably a hold-over from a time when scalding milk was done regularly.

Thanks for the super thanks Mark. The Classic 1 is very similar, mostly the daisy wheel instead of the kontrol tower but you'll get on a storm 👊🔥

Is it a lot of effort to clean after each use?
@Barbechoo
@Barbechoo 3 жыл бұрын
No not at all... I dont clean it at all when I finish cooking. Next time I go to use it, brush the ash into the tray at the bottom, empty it and light a new fire. The heat takes care of any grease etc

The music loop really overpowered your voice. I find that new KZfaqrs start with a loop and they find out pretty soon they don’t need it except maybe to fill in here and there.
