One of the humblest, but most competent and deliberative, interpretations of #3 I’ve heard. What a treat.

Beautiful. I love the balance of the crazy rhythms with the beautiful harmonies.

This is THE BEST of ALL THE PERFORMANCES of the 3rd mvt. on KZfaq. Daniel Pollack ROCKS!!

I have to agree with you. He really captures all the emotional possibilities in this performance. Rhythmically sound, great use of rubato, clarity, point of view, and drive. Wonderful.

The pianist is Daniel Pollack. This is from a Naxos release of Barber's complete published piano music.

you know what, I really don't care if the rhythm is played perfectly because this is beautiful.

What an incredible composition!

does anybody know who the pianist is? I love his interpretation of this excursion.
@ssdamouni13 жыл бұрын
@kinpopdj No he is pretty clearly playing the first four notes in the right hand exactly with the left hand and the last three as two against three. When you do rubato you are supposed to keep the rythym correct even if you stretch them out.

I drew a diagram for where the notes went for the cross rhythms. Yes it's sooo pretty once you have it down, but it's really hard to get it. Just work at it, and you'll get it!

would you be able to upload it somewhere, or maybe even send it to me? (trying to get my head around this piece at the moment and I'd be really grateful to see how you interpreted it)
@highelectricaltemperatureАй бұрын
@@richard.tilley This is 6 years too late, but my strategy is to practice lining up the 4th 7-tuplet (since it falls halfway between the 4th and 5th 8-tuplets) and let everything else fall into place from there.
@ssdamouni14 жыл бұрын
he is cheating the rythym of the main theme. it is marked 7 against 8 and he just broke the 7 into a group of 4 and 3.

You are correct. i just heard that. I'm studying this piece now.

I’d say it’s pretty close to what Barber intended. Although, I do agree that this piece is far too beautiful to be played at this tempo.
