Probably the best interpreter of all times! His recordings and soul will live forever. When I was “in the business”, I would listen to his recordings constantly to grasp as much knowledge as I could on interpretation before my practice sessions.

Can we get this thing on DVD? This is priceless. There are so few video-recordings of the great Paderewski left.... I consider Paderewski the first major interpreter of the romantic period (from the contemporary period).

Yesterday I found and played the film this comes from, Moonlight Sonata, 1937. He plays this Liszt at the beginning of the film. He plays it as it almost doesn't deserve to be played, as a wonderful composition. He performs with such passion and unadulterated musicality. As though this is how it is supposed to be performed. He especially plays the circus-like bits as proper music to be played the right way.Especially the concluding bars, not dashed off but given weight. Utterly memorable Greetings from East Anglia in England

1968 hörte ich Loussier zum ersten Mal. Und heute: Seine Interpretationen beeindrucken mich immer noch unglaublich! Zeitlos, Bach hätte seine Freude!

Paderewski's tone is like a chorus of Polish patriots shouting an anthem of independence. It's no wonder that he was riotously popular during his day. There's no one like him!

This recording is stepped up to play at a higher pitch -- it's the Heroic Spirit of Poland, opus 53, but not in A flat. It's at least a full note higher than it ought to be. I can tell, as I have perfect pitch. But then, I notice that nowhere in the presentation is it called "...in A flat."

I watched this movie about 50 years ago and it stuck with me ever since. I eventually learned to play it on the guitar years before finger tapping became popular. This man had me spell bound watching his big hands racing up and down the keys.
