As the parent of an autistic son, this is a God-send! I wish EVERY barber had access to this information.

As a grandmother of an Autistic grandchild, I wish this program and trained barbers existed in Florida. If anyone lives in Central Florida and has knowledge of some barbers with Autistic training or really good at caring for Autism children, please let me know. Thank you 💜

I think all cosmetology schools should have training for autism and special needs clients, and have it be mandatory class.

I think that that is awesome that they have something like that for folks with Autism. I mean when you have a bunch of clippers and razors going it can bee very scary for someone to hear that I am sure especially for an Autisic person. I mean any normal little kid will bee a little leery of the sound of course but an autistic person?? I can’t imagine what they are feeling and how they are feeling when they hear a bunch of unfamiliar sounds like buzzing and more buzzing. Now I am a musician who cuts their own hair of course and I have a bunch of clippers that are different styles and they all are different sounding from throbbing to buzzing. Even the trimmers are totally different from one another. So as far as the clippers hurting someone??? Well, if you are not careful a clipper could possibly cut you or nick you but that is why you have to bee careful because they do have a sharp blade so they can cut through the hair so if you handle the clipper the wrong way it will scratch you like a cat. I have never gotten scratched by the clipper but when I was trimming my face to get it prepared for shaving I did nick myself with the trimmer. So yes. Even an electric clipper and trimmer can nick you because of the sharp blade. I don’t want to scare anyone by telling you this but it could happen just because it is electric doesn’t mean that it is not worthy of scratching. I have a couple of hair liners that are like mini clippers and wow!!!! If I am not careful I could easily scratch myself with the liner. The liners are like baby clippers they are a trimmer with smaller teeth. They are meant for trimming along the edges and helping the clipper. So with the liners or clippers even you have to bee careful. A lot of people think just because it is electric doesn’t mean that it will hurt you. It can’t because it is electric but this is false. Like I sated. If you are not careful the clippers could hurt you. I actually had one of my hair liners as well scratch me on the neck the other day and it feels like a cat scratch because the blade is so sharp... but their again. Showing an autistic person this they have to bee careful and ready to handle the trimmer and probably let the barber help them so they can check it out. But yea. All in all their is nothing to fear because the clipper’s job is not to hurt anyone. It is very very and extremely sharp to cut hair. I think that most barbers probably don’t have the time to show the clippers and what they feel like because they are so busy but it is nice to know that their are some out their who will take that teim to show the clipper and the one that they will bee cutting the person’s hair with. But yea. All in all I can only imagine that the sound of the clippers is an unusual sound that can bee a bit intimadating for an autistic person. After all. A barber shop is where you hear many different types of conversations and humming from the clippers. One other thing before I go is that the sound of the clipper starting up can bee a bit startling for anyone because of the popping noise that it makes when you pull that lever to start it. It will just jump into action and no warning. Wall clippers have a tendency to do this. You pull down the lever and it will pop. Sounds like their is something wrong with the clipper but it is jut the switch beeing activated to start the clipper and put it into cutting motion.

I am not looking to cut all my sons hair off. I’m looking to do about two layers off.. I have Wahl clippers, May I know which clippers piece is good for that? It is so disheartening that a lot of barbers don’t cut my sons hair because of his disability and they don’t understand it, so I might as well do it myself cutting his hair.
