oh wow, I've never seen you so disappointed in a color reveal series but I must agree with you. The mermaids, for me, really are the pinnacle of the color reveal series and I wish they'd do more dolls with rooted hair going forward.

I think there’s some thing about seeing someone have a genuine reaction on KZfaq that is compelling. It’s also pretty rare. I like most of the things that I make videos about because that’s why I picked them in the first place. But sometimes I end up disappointed and I don’t see any reason to fake it.

absolutely disgusting how they have sculpted hair. it would’ve been SO cute if it was rooted or something. and 14 dollars? tone it down to 8 dollars because that’s an action figure.

X-Files, now you need the Mulder and Skully Barbie and Ken and Barbie. The metallic paint effect is still the best. The dolls' hairstyles are cute. Too bad they're molded on.

This is no doll, it's an action figure. Sculpted hair and clothing? Barbie really has downgraded since Mattel stopped articulation on the Fashionista dolls in 2013 or so. The old 90s early 2000s dolls were way better, I recently found a Brunette Barbie that I bought from KB Toys in 2003 and her hair still silky and beautiful, and her body is very sturdy and not cheap looking.

I kinda like both the concept and the doll’s designs, which is the first one for me. When the mermaid line was released I loved the concept, but did not like either of the available designs. I don’t really care for the colour change. So, this is the first Colour Reveal Barbie line I consider collecting :)

hey i love your videos! i remember a few months back you were trying to figure out the paint they use to make color reveal dolls and idk if you ever figured it out but i wonder if liquid water colors would work (like the ones you find in the tubes)? i have tempera watercolors and they somewhat do the color reveal thing but i’m just wondering if pure liquid watercolors would work?

When I see these Colors reveal, each time I ask myself the question: what ecological impact does this toy have: in fact, is the paint used biodegradable? And like lol surprise : to mutch plasticy bag’s packaging!

I'm sorry but this series has to be a joke. These dolls cost 25$ in my country!!!! I am so sorry for parents who buy these dolls. Many of them don't even know that the "reveal" happens only once. These dolls are a waist of plastic... They could be in a dog toy category 🐶

I watch My World, and I like the fun, realism, and honesty you bring to what you do. I understand that you like doing the colour reveal in great detail, and have strong opinions about them. However, for some of us its just a pretty, fun aspect (some say gimmick) to the doll. You made a 25 minute video and didn't show the clothes being held up, let alone on the doll. I don't have high standards for a fun review format, but since we can't actually see the doll and her belongings before buying it would have been nice if you took 3 minutes out of the 25 to show the clothes. You could have even dressed them off camera, and showed them at the end, already dressed. I'm not bitching for the hell of it, I'm actually thinking of getting one and was hoping to see them in their entirety.

The ones from the first round (mine) had streaks in the short pixie cuts that didn't cover the whole head. So I think it's just the way they do most of the hair streaks.

Hello, Melissa ! I am a long time huge fan ! And since you deal a lot with the color reveal Barbies, i figured you were probably the best person to ask... So, i have tried to buy, at least, three dolls of each color reveal, while still buying the collector's editions that i love. Now i had never had issues with the dolls getting water inside, until now... My questions are : do you ever get that problem ? And if you do, how do you handle it ? I have had that happen before and the water would come right out; but this time, it's stuck ! I don't want it to grow mould .... Is there a solution for that ? I've seen a lot of Color Reveal reviews from you and other KZfaqrs and now I strongly believe that these are meant for very young kids only. I mean, dolls like Extra definitely have collector value despite not being collector dolls, Fashionistas also have collector value in terms of diverse face molds and really great new ideas such as dolls with prosthetic limbs, but these are really bland for an adult collector. I guess they are good for young kids because of the surprise part and because they are sturdy and fit for outdoor games, but I think that even teenage collectors are going to be mostly disappointed with these. But oh well, if new series are released so often, they must sell well, so the target audience must be satisfied. But definitely a pass for me.

I love your honest reviews and reactions to things Melissa and I have to say that I personally think this line of dolls is one of the worst creations of mattel ever. They are cheap, mostly ugly, and environmentally irresponsible. Has anyone ever looked into how safe that paint stuff is? I wonder what it's made of. There are plenty of other low budget playline dolls out there Mattel. This idea is just stupid. But the presenter is awesome 😉

I so agree. I generally like My World, but I thought she really dropped the ball on this. Not all of us are completely enthralled by the colour reveal. I think they are all pretty, some more than others. I liked the contouring and though it was a nice rose pink. BUT.... all her time with it took away from the basics of showing what else comes with the doll, and what the doll with her outfit on looks like. I was really disappointed.

This would have actually been LESS disappointing if they hadn't even done the "marbling" effect. The "marbling" is a slap in the face, honestly. The molded hair on these ones is ACTUALLY cool, but the terrible marbling makes it feel like they're even more cheaply made than usual . . . Maybe they should have considered making the marbling metallic or something. It just needs SOMETHING.

Mattel should take the color reveal line and make something different out of it!!! I'm not sure if Hot Wheels are still relevant, but color reveal Hot Wheels???? I WOULD DIE. Or something along the lines of littlest pet shop, shopkins, mighty beanz, etc. So many things that would work better than barbie!!!

Is it bad that I wish they just tried to improve on the wigs from wave 1 instead of trying so many different ways to do hair? The molded hair does look cute, I’ll give it that, but I feel like hair is one of the major play features of a doll. And these don’t have that.

I love Barbie color reveal, but these ones are lacking. Even the hair gives away the surprise of who you get before you reveal. I don’t like that.

Well... I can't see much difference in the experience, apart from the diamond series, so what's to be disappointed with? 🤔 They just caught you on a bad day I guess. The pink clouds remind ne of peonies petals, so pretty, and the dolls are cute. The worst part is the price. They are much too expensive
