After having struggled with flight anxiety for over 5 years, last week I finally saw a counsellor to help with the problem. He advised me as soon as we'd had the session, to fly as soon as possible and put all of the techniques he had taught me into practise.
Flights to Barcelona were super cheap so we booked them and headed off the next morning.
In this week's episode, Aimee battles her anxiety as we fly to the beautiful city of Barcelona. We're SO excited to be back on the road, even if it is only for 11 days. We will be soaking up the sun and experiencing some of the best things Barcelona has to offer! Spain, here we come!

“Feel the fear, do it anyway” one of my favorite quotes that is. I have it everywhere that’s accessible as a reminder to myself. I suffer of wicked anxiety and that’s a bit of a reminder to myself to keep going, and that beyond the fear there are great experiences awaiting. Thank you for being such inspirations, and thank you Aimee for sharing your hardships with this, because it truly helps those of us that share them.

Word to the wise, a friends daughter got her phone and stuff nicked in Barcelona. While it was a nightmare for him trying to resolve it, if I learnt anything from it, if you own an Apple phone, call Apple, they will kill it, rescue your phones imprint, and make the stolen item effectively a useless plastic brick. He managed to get a new phone shipped to his daughter from the UK, already set up as it was when she lost it for free - and the pick pockets got a useless lump of plastic that I am sure they could get going again, but that Apple could kill at will. You are both legends.

Haha, your scooter is a two-stroke, it needs two stroke oil for it to mix with the petrol. Not sure you need to top it up every time though :-) Well done Aimee for facing your anxieties! I'm not the best flyer but I think I'd be more afraid of the scooter :-D

Safe to say I didn’t get an emotional response like Kara when I was in Copenhagen but I was very happy to go back to my favourite Bakery. When I went to Barcelona there was still scaffolding around the Sangrada Famiglia. Aimee. You rockstar!! You did it!! Queening it! 👑

The last trip I took was Disneyland Paris in November 2019. I spent the best part of 16 months only leaving my house once a week. For the last two months I've been allowed to start going back to work in the office 3 days a week. The idea of booking a trip and travelling anywhere makes me feel sick. My travel blog was completely abandoned at the start of this year because trying to write blog posts just made me want to cry. No I have no idea how to get that confidence back to start solo travel again. Watching Aimee combat her fears and not let her anxiety win makes me feel as though it is possible. Just not yet. You're a star.

Good job Aimee for taking the plane! Oh yeah watch those pickpockets in Barcelona. Avoid dark streets and alleys. I feel they are even more desperate now. It's so special when locals invite you to their place..I remember our Air BnB host who invited us for breakfast at her place in Valencia. We had the most beautiful view of City of Arts and Sciences! Love Spain!

Bar-the-lona is my absolute favourite city in the world! I'm so glad you took a scooter tour. Day 1 is ideal, but Day 2 ain't bad either ;) I was smiling ear-to-ear through this whole video. It brought back such fond memories for me. OK. Let's see what I can remember for travel tips... I went to some pretty amazing vegan restaurants. Some super hippie (my vibe) and some super posh. But TBH, I don't know which ones are still there. I'd say use the HappyCow website or app because they'll have the most up-to-date recos. As a general rule, DO NOT eat along Las Ramblas. It's a massive tourist trap. Food is expensive and tastes crap. Btw, you pronounce paella: pah-yay-ya. My absolute fave drink that I seriously lived off every time I was there, was their famous horchata. Pronounced: or-chah-tah. It's made of tigernuts, water and sugar I think. Super basic but delicious and refreshing! Every store sellls it, but I purposely bought it from the cafes that were making them into slushies because hello, it's more fun!!! And Aimee, you're absolutely right. Zara & H&M are INCREDIBLE there! But don't forget to visit their Mango. It's soooo much better than any other Mango in other countries. Also, I think Spain make the best fans (the handheld manual kind). They're sold everywhere including department stores. I bet you guys would love to experience their food markets! La Boqueria is probably Barcelona's most famous one. It's huge and yes, it's in Las Ramblas, the tourist district, but that one is actually worth going to, but any of their markets are incredible to experience. PICK POCKETS - I've been to many cities around the world and none of them come close to Barcelona's level. Not just because of how many there are, but how GOOD they are at it! I mean, it's kinda impressive how good they are! They're EVERYWHERE day & night. Keep your bags closed and close to your body. Most of them work in teams - one to distract, the other(s) to steal. Some of them look like very fashionable women with shopping bags themselves. I'm tellin' ya, they're so good! OK. I've now high-jacked the comments section. I'm sure this is plenty to digest for now. Lol, that's a two-stroke scooter, pretty rare these days, but thats why it needs oil in the gas (or a pre-mix). Thats how these old timey motors work. Sounds hillarious

I have literally just discovered you both in the last couple of months due to me building my first camper van. I love your channel, I laugh a lot and you are both really down to earth and lovely...It was so sad when you got ripped off coming home from Morocco. I'm watching all your videos out of order...haha!!! But the one thing I didn't realise until now was that Amy suffers from anxiety. Amy, as someone who has suffered with it for near on 20 years (off and on) you are a complete inspiration. I so know what you go through and travelling is one of the hardest things to do with any comfort. I just want to say you are amazing, its inspired me to want to go further afield in my van, maybe Europe to begin with...Hopefully this year I will see many places. I will be travelling alone so its a little bit scary for me...but If I wait until I get a travel partner, I may be old and grey...ha ha 😂 A little tip for you Amy, On KZfaq there is a channel called DrVirtual7, they have some amazing subliminals and binaurals for anxiety that work instantly and could help you while travelling on planes. @@kingingit if you are ever not sat on a plane next to your partner and you have anxiety, worse if alone, go to the desk when they are preboarding and say that you have a “cognitive disability” and your partner is your “caretaker”…. Those are the terms they know, and won’t ask another question… it also gets you preboarded 😎

Craig & Aimee, you have been in Barcelona best part of a week and I'm sure you have figured it out. There is so much good fruit & veg produced in Spain, but they are a nation of meat & fish eaters. It's the classic Mediterranean diet. Return in Custard, via our home in Poitou Charentes, we are 4 ish hours to the Pyrenees. Tour Spain & Portugal. Travel Beans did a Portugal trip recently. Aimee, the new wig looks great, I'm happy my suggestion inspired you.

Hey Kinging It! I'm a big fan and a Barcelona native, so I thought I could leave some suggestions of places to go to. Some must sees: mercat de Sant Antoni, the MNAC (great views of the city), the botanical gardens at Montjuic, and hospital Sant Pau (right next to Sagrada Familia it's extremely beautiful and very romantic!). And for food you should try Federal in Carrer Parlament (very hipster part of town). I hope you have a great time in my motherland!

When you're on the flight picture being at Barcelona airport collecting baggage at Spanish airport and that helps immensely- visualising is great and then what happens in between you cant control so sit back and relax. Seriously, that is how I overcame my fear- don't make too much of a big deal about it if poss. xx

You are both so awesome! We did day trips to Salvador Dali's Museum and to Salvador Dali's house (great home décor tips). Take the express train, not the local train like we did. The Picasso museum is right in town and that was amazing too. Find all the Gaudi buildings you can. Barcelona also has a great music scene.

Great fun video guys! That scooter 😂😂😂 we got pickpocketed whilst there a few years ago… tried the old grab around your waist and pretend to play football whilst getting your wallet from your back pocket. Well done You. We are recommended to visit El Nationel in central Barcelona. It didn’t disappoint. Amazing views of the city in the hotel opposite. Also a highlight was on the top floor of the cafe at El Cortez in the main square called Placa Catalonia Enjoy and yes the pickpockets there are always lurking, especially with jackets on the back of chairs and while you are watching the street entertainers Take care xxx
