The Barcelona metro is the second biggest metro system in Spain. The main language used in Barcelona is Catalan which means the majority of station names are in Catalan. The metro is split between 2 different companies. These are the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) and the Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB). The TMB livery is a mix of red and white and they are the company who own the majority of metro lines. The FGC owns 4 metro lines and a handful of suburban rail lines. It's livery is orange and white on some trains and red and white on others. The rolling stock is pretty diverse but all being relatively new and functional. Like the Madrid metro, the Barcelona metro gains its power from an overhead rail. The system is one of the best in Europe and well serves the big city of Barcelona.
