partly because he has a modern mouthpiece & reed setup on it so it’s not how it would sound in the 1900s, it probably still sounded beautiful just with a different style

Or just a conn jazz Bari, that’s what I have, the bell is a little shorter and it doesn’t play as low but it is still a great instrument 🎷

Most likely the reed and mouthpiece, they have more to do with the sound than the actual sax does.

"woodwind" is a historical term for reed reed instruments, "brass" is a historical term for lipreed instruments

I like antique instruments because they usually sound brighter. This is true of many brass instruments as well. Our modern concept of “warmth” is overrated.

it looks like the sax thats always been a myth: the f bari. ive been scouring the internet for a while for any solid clue of its existance and have found nothing. wow
