Today we are grabbing our Baritone and we are going to learn how to jam with standard tuned, meaning Soprano, Concert and Tenor, Ukuleles. You could apply these ideas to jamming with guitar, piano, any instrument as well if you were so inclined. The very first step is learn how to know what chords you are playing. If you go to the Ukulele jam, or you are playing with a friend, and they are playing the chord progression G-C-D-G you will need to able to find those shapes on the Baritone, that is step on. Then after that we will look at 5 different techniques that we use to jam, they are strumming on the 1st beat, matching strum patterns, fingerpicking, different chord shapes and the last one is just to let solos rip! Each one of those we will walk through one by one and show you how to fingerpick on the baritone with tabs, how to play different baritone ukulele chord shapes, how to match the strum pattern, everything you need to jam along.

Would this also mean i could put on a capo on the 5th fret, and then jam the regular Ukulele chords?

Yes you could, but I would say at that point it’s best just to play a regular ukulele.

You list G major pentatonic scale positions 1 & 2 but I watched a video of yours last night teaching EM pentatonic scale in all 5 positions and first 2 positions were same as what you have here for G major so I am confused? 😁

No, they are what are called “relative majors and minors” every minor scale has a major scales with the same notes. For Em it happens to be G major.

Great video, you explain it really well. However, I know more guitarists then ukers, so I put guitar strings on my baritone. They take both EADG and GCEA really well and to me it sounds a bit better when jamming with guitars.

I have guitar strings on mine to, Elixers, not sure who I feel about them yet. Sometimes good... sometimes ehh... they are settling in and sounding better.

@@TenThumbsProductions But you tuned them DGBE? I never tried that. I'm still learning standard uke chords (because I also have a tenor) and sometimes I switch to EADG to play "Bass".
