Bark River Fox River EXT-1 - Antique Ivory with Red Liners and Mosaic Pins

Overall Length: 8.6 inches or 21.8 cm
Blade Length: 4.1 inches or 10.4 cm
Blade Thickness: .157 inch or 3.9 mm
Blade Steel: CPM3V
Weight: 5.7 ounces or 161 grams
Grind: Convex
Blade Style: Drop point
The blade on the new Fox River EXT-1 is basically identical to the Fox River LT, but with a different handle. The handle is very similar to that of the Gunny Hunter. It has a palm swell and the metal lanyard loop has been removed. It allows for a fuller or more traditional feeling grip.
Note: the balance on the EXT-1 feels okay, but it is slight more handle heavy than the standard Fox River. It weighs about 14 grams more and the weight is mostly noticeable in the handle. For me, I like the feel of the flat handle on the standard Fox River and did not think there was anything wrong with the ergonomics, especially for gutting and skinning, but the new one does offer a slight fuller grip that may appeal to some folks. Overall, the Fox River is comfortable and efficient and capable of breaking down most large game animals. All the best

Just got one in cpm cru wear with walnut burl handle and natural liner and pins. Going to be my go to hunting blade... best overview video with this knife on KZfaq. Thank you

I just got the fox river 2 LT a week ago and already broke the tip off. It's 3V and I stuck it straight into a piece of oak. No twisting or drilling. I called Jim and he said they would fix it for free and the blade was probably ground too thin. I've never broke a tip off my cheapest Kershaws doing the same thing with cheap Chinese steel. Kind of disappointed because this is my second BR but I sure love my necker!

Will the Light fit in the EXT 1 sheath , Im looking to get a new sheath for my light.

Hi, the regular Fox River LT will fit inside the sheath for the EXT 1, however, the fit is loose and wobbly because the handle shape is different. I would not recommend it. Thanks

its a mix of the gunny and the fox river, and the handle is a gunny handle, wich is a small bravo

Is it well balanced in the hand? Not too handle heavy?

Hi, the balance feels okay, but it is slight more handle heavy than the standard Fox River. It weighs about 14 grams more and the weight is mostly noticeable in the handle. The balance point on the EXT 1 is at about the first pin, but it only has two pins. The balance point on the standard Fox River is just behind the first pin, but the standard Fox River has three pins. For me, I like the feel of the flat handle on the standard Fox River and did not think there was anything wrong with the ergonomics, especially for gutting and skinning, but the new one does offer a slight fuller grip that may appeal to some folks. My issue with hunting knives is not the knives per se but the people who buy them. Once saw an odd fello on YT who for some reason needed to stab a phone book and then a tree trunk right after. Help up ok but You wouldn't brush your teeth with a sledge hammer would you? Least I hope not
