Wow, awesome find! That looks like one of the Indy Pace cars. Hemi orange, hood pins, white top, and interior sure do point that way. Definitely deserves to be saved for sure.

Oh you guys are figuring it out. Yes thx to Eugene it is one of 50 Indy pace cars. And no owner never knew as lettering was removed before car got to dealer. I had a feeling based on color combo. But could not see vin till pulled out of garage. Car will be cleaned and saved as original surviver. There only original once.

In 1983, i owned a 1971 challenger convertable. Red with a white top. Black interior. 318 automatic. Its so wild seeing this car.

Yeah, what he said Going to try to resurrect it. I’ve cleaned out the inside floor pans are all good. It’s fairly decent. Parts are all there.

i owned a 1970 Barracuda 340 4sp, very sweet mopar orange with black int, my favourate is the 71 cuda tho, 71 challenger is my second choice of a car i would keep that as original as original gets.you guys in the States are lucky so many finds up here in Canada very hard to find mopars these days cause of thier worth.

Ford ended up with Kenny Bolin. Was to be rodded. Parts got sold off and body was hanging in a barn. Kenny died. And cars is lost. Dodge has a 318 auto w console. 8 3/4 rear end.

It's a 318 car there's no muscle in it.i would replace it with a 340.its a convertible so definitely worth fixing up

Lucky that area under that piece of rug hadn't rusted out the trunk lid. Single exhaust tells me its not really a muscle car with a 318 engine but still darn cool. I had a 70 Challenger with a 383 and automatic plus a 70 Cuda with a 440 +6 and 4 speed. Wish I had them now. Good luck finding the rear lower valence panel. Pretty flat ground so you must be around the Columbus Ohio area.

@@KlepsGarageold timer still had a 49ford with 22k. Miles on it in 1960s. Had light MVA damage do he sold it for goodly vsum😊

For non-Mopar guys. Engine is a V8. Distributor in the rear so it's a small block. Mopar big blocks have the distributor in front. It has a 2 bbl. 340's came only with 4 bbl or three 2 bbl's (aka "Six Pack"). So it's a 318 2 bbl. The 318, though capable of more, was almost always a 2 bbl. It was the grocery getter / family man basic engine in the Mopars. There were a few 318's with Thermoquad 4 bbs, the so called "Denver package", and some Police, but those were rare. So, it's easy to spot this as a 318. Personally, I'd drop in a 360/5.9L Magnum with a little hotter cam and 4-bbl.

They made Aspen/Volare/Cordoba/Charger/Magnum/Mirada with 318 4 barrel,they had 360 heads and most duel exhaust on the 2 door cars..Also Newport/NewYorker/St.Regis,Gran Fury 79-81 and Diplomat/Gran Fury/leBaron from 77-on with 4 barrel 318's not only cop cars but anyone could buy a 318 4 barrel...Trucks and Vans also could be had with a 318 4 barrel...But not until the mid-late 70's.. I wouldnt drop a 5.9 Magnum...the 318 is good if you're going to drop a cam in it,keep the 318..My buddy in 1991 had a 73 Challenger with a mild 318 4 barrel,purple cam,polished/ported heads and he ran 13.30's in the 1/4 mile and the car drove and idled like a bone stock 318 2bbl,just a lot quicker! If anything it needs a big block,400 with a 440 crank and min 500 hp with low compression!

EV2 paint code was the same for Plymouth (which called it Torred) and Dodge (which called it HemiOrange). Modern Dodge Challengers use BOTH names for different colors. Makes it confusing for the E-Body crowd. :)
