Looks good, lowering a Caddy is the only way to go, people don’t realize it’s not just a truck it’s a Volkswagen . Old Volkswagen’s don’t die they just get lower!

Howzit from South Africa. Was there no way to rotate the back axle 180 degrees and use the same flat spots on the axle to lie on the leaf spring. The drums/cables would've been facing backwards but I think you could have rotated them 180 degrees and faced them forward again? Dig your content by the way. Be safe and be healthy!

@@russellmackenzie2689 ... I thought the same till I saw the shock mounts, which would have to be changed if you flipped the rest.

I bought a brand new 94 Nissan Hardbody pickup and I slammed it! I ran the torsion bars all the way down in the front and ran a mono leaf spring and 3" lowering blocks in the rear. The pin to keep the axle from twisting or shifting didn't have enough threads to put it back on without the extra springs but, I was young and dumb & didn't care so I ran it anyway! Luckily it never shifted and when I traded it in, it easily went back to stock

That thing is spotless underneath, even the pinch welds are straight. I'd personally get another bumper on there, you can drill a hole in the shocks to compress them and have it sit closer to the body.

My first new car was a 76 Rabbit 2dr 4spd. I added a Kami front air dam under the bumper and a VW rally anti-sway bar to the rear end and called it a day. One of the things I loved about the Rabbit was its supple, controlled ride. It stayed composed even if the road wasn't smooth. It also had enough ground clearance to make it useful in the snow and less likely to hang up on a dirt road. I will never understand why you would waste the time and money to make a car less useful, safe, and comfortable. I get the looks bit but not enough to pay with crap performance every time I drove the thing. Just sayin'

SAFETY GLASSES! Ok, that's my only complaint. Otherwise, this truck rocks. Maybe you could source some "nerf" bars for the front and back, since you're going with the bumper delete. And, yeah, she's going to need a little help in the drive train. It sounded like you were trying to light the tires up, but the truck had other ideas. It's good to hear you're busy at work, and hopefully your Dad's work will pick up, too. Take care out there.

Lowering looks good but now you have no suspension travel in the rear unless you relocate the bump-stops. Even still, there's probably only enough room for 2" of travel. You may want to consider welding up some drop plates for the spindles and put the suspension geometry back to stock. Yes, more work but you gain function.

When i was alot younger I got stuck at a green light for what seemed like forever at Maroubra beach with cops behind me in an unregistered 74 Audi fox trying to find first gear, it kept going in reverse or 3rd. Worst shift ever when they get some play in them. I love how this is looking, that ride height looks good and even better with the bumpers gone. I like it a lot.

Great job as always and can't wait until you do the cool v8 swap on the datsun or Toyota cant remember what it was lol. Since the axel doesn't have gears, you should have just stripped the axel of it's brake assemblies, flipped it endo and tied it down with out buying parts. Bolting the brake stuff back on to the opposite sides. Then all you have to do is build new brake line holders.
